Great video! I’ve got a friend who can hit a nasty, flat backhand slice that has proven nearly impossible to return so I’m excited to give these tips a go.

Thanks! Your videos are best and one additional point is that you don't have jingles, introductions and other disturbing things before the video starts. With best I mean they are very instructive and easy to understand.

Thanks for another helpful video Sandy! Definitely the best padel videos out there. I'd like to see a video about how to practice as a pair when you're only two on the court. Whats the "driving range" of padel? To get away from all those basic misstakes. Thanks!

Fredrik Cederqvist thanks for your support! Yes, I’ll make some 2 player drills. That’s where players can really work on their consistency. Players often play matches in practice 95% of the time in padel, so use those games too to practice new stuff so you’re ready for the main tournaments 👍

Sandy, enjoying your videos, learning a lot! Could you please make a slowed (can't remember the right english word) video on returning the low balls bouncing of the glass. It would greatly help to see your stance etc

one trick i used to make sure that I am backing far enough to the glass is to actually make sure that my racket "touch" the glass at the end of my back swing. A bit extreme but it helps me to get nearer to the glass.

Thanks for your great tips! You don't really make your racket face open for your forehand rebote like backhand?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 4 жыл бұрын
Rieko Maruyama it’s easier to drop the racket head on the forehand (therefore faster) and on the backhand the wrist is more solid...that help?!

any tips when there's a touch of side spin on de slice?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 5 жыл бұрын
Michel Raveyts the side spin doesn’t necessarily change the difficulty of the final ball position (unless it contacts a 2nd glass aswell). Once you know the direction of the side spin, you can predict the reaction and move accordingly. My advice would be to give yourself extra space from which side the rebound will go...you can always step towards the ball at the last minute, but it’s not good to step away.

Very good tips as usual, appreciating alot! A question: Would it ever be relevant in these tight defensive situations to actually change the grip a bit from the continental grip, or do you exclusively, in all kinds of situation, use the standard grip? If relevant, Id love a in depth video covering special situation or special variation of shots where changing the grip a little bit could be beneficial!
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! There are minor grip changes you can use in defensive (and attacking) positions to help be more effective on the shot. When teaching these shots to a beginner up to intermediate player I would always recommend the continental grip. But at a higher level players can (and do) make minor adjustments. That would be a good "advanced" video! Give me a bit of time and I'll put that together :)

Hi Sandy with regards to defence, what do you suggest when playing against players that like to power smash most of the time and don’t use the slower bandeja often. I play a lot off the back glass in a match and play a lot of lobs. Should I focus on hitting the lobs with more height so the ball drops quickly and have time to come forward. Or play straight lobs instead of cross court or ?? I don t have a lot of power in my smash btw :(

Hi Sandy, thanks for the amazing content. I still have a question though: does “the elbow into the side” stays for all the forehand shots?
@ThePadelSchool
@ThePadelSchool 5 жыл бұрын
Tadas Vosylius that’s a good question. The elbow into the side is more of a guide to keep compact on the shot. It is more important defending at the back, but also can be a good guide hitting in front too.

If they have a mediocre smash, then maybe check this video out about how to defend the smash: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nF6li32dhtxprbs If they have a good smash, you might need to change the type of lob you hit - maybe faster instead of higher?! You can find that video on our channel too...
