Loved the workout. Also loved that you suggested a song, instead of just playing it for us. That way, if I want to do this workout more than once a week, I can mix up the music.

By the way, I like the idea of you sharing music you like. I added that song to my playlist. Thank you for the motivation, positivity and loving. I’m ready for more! . Great workout! Stay safe.

Thanks for the motivation Donavan, I’ve never commented before. But I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am. I am an instructor, and struggling because of that. All of our classes are virtual right now, by the time I am done I am so exhausted it’s hard to put any effort into my own progress. It’s really hard to not get burnt out. I will be using this on the weekend for sure. Thanks for all your hard work.

Omg thank you so much seriously! I know how it feels to burn out. This is a crazy time and good on you for putting your students before yourself. I would say to find new ways to train that are different than the usual? Like I've been getting super creative with my workouts mixing calisthenics with martial arts actions. Once I feel confident that they work well I want to start posting them :). Anyways, I'm so glad my videos can provide some type of relief and thank you so much for commenting :)

Donavan Barrett thank you for commenting back Donovan! I’m glad I’m not the only one. This video is the perfect switch up for me, I am not the most creative person on my own so your videos have certainly helped so much. We have double the classes right now, and even the act of showing something basic and stances for hours at a time is so draining. Also since I have to teach at their level by the time I have time I have no energy to train at my level to improve. So it’s kind of disappointing. As teachers it’s hard we don’t have someone pushing us we have to do it ourselves most of the time. The last week I’ve added in my own time at night to recover and I have added foam rolling and I am switching up my stretching a bit to get over splits with your help. Thank you for the motivation and the creativity. I can see how much work you have put into where you are right now. Thank you for putting it out there for us :-)

Donavan Barrett also yes yes yes to putting the students first. My master always said you must have a servants heart to be a good teacher. I love those kids though and it is so rewarding seeing them progress and learn. But it emotionally gets hard sometimes when you pour your heart into them and their training. Thank you for the videos so much. I’ve already felt much better this week by incorporating some.

@@donavantkd I meant how you structured you schedule during your development of your flexibility. Did you follow the same schedule every week or did you alternate through different stretching/strength workouts? Did you stretching trough soreness or rest? Did you do PNF several times a week or was that to intense?
@donavantkd
@donavantkd 4 жыл бұрын
@@One1Raptor Ahhh. I see. My brain doesn't believe in schedules and set routines xD. I stretched every day, but my routine was almost never the same. I'd move through a variety of stretches and identify where I felt short and would hone in on those muscles. I would do strength training just about every day. If I felt super sore, I took a rest day. A good rule of thumb is starting with movement (Dynamic stretches), a little static, Working out (usually a tkd workout), 30 minutes static stretching, then hip conditioning drills). That delivers the fastest results in my experience teaching and training in regards to gaining flexibility, strength, and control in kicks. I go really in depth on how all that works in my Functional Flexibility course but that's my basic go to outline when it comes to seeing results the quickest. Hope it helps! :)

Ifinally tried the beginner flexibility work out. I have already have some flexibility from karate, but these exercises helped a lot. Because its all body weight can it be done every day or very other day? I'm 6'5 and still growing, my doctor said possibly 6'8, I want to be as flexible as possible for karate and baseball.
