thank you for this. I feel like all this will help me avoid making a lot of costly mistakes in team-building etc

chase! You're my mentor :) that's a real awesome- looking for an intern and KNOWING what they are actually there for. reminds me of simon sinek's talks about leadership. i like the fact that you are humble and not talking about only how you helped people skyrocket... you are very human and that is something i take from your daily creative (which isn't very daily lately for some reason?) anyway it is awesome to have your opinion on all these diverse subject

Thank you for answering my question Chase. I think the way I explained it was a little off, but the good thing is that some of your feedback is applicable. The experience is moreso that they take what they need and then their ego kicks in. I've never treated my mentors like this and so I don't understand how people can be this way. Thanks for sharing your experience as well. SN: My name is spelt with an "E" not an "I". LOL. Sorry I didn't spell it for ya.

UNASHAMEDIMAGING As a mentor, you should WANT them to eventually “leave the nest and fly”. Being a mentor doesn’t mean indenturing someone to become a source of free labor. C’mon now..

Really like this topic. The real estate field is so competitive. Have not got back into it except with the thought of discount clients. I hide behind the radar now.

I had an assistant that wanted to learn, but they never really showed a passion to learn, what I saw was a love of the idea of being a photographer. I tried to help, teach, but they just kept jumping from item to item, and a lack of focus. Maybe fine for them, but after a year of assisting, they do t know if they want to model, shoot or many other things. And that's ok, I was available to help them, and will always be there to help them. Nothing I can do if they do or don't want my help, just be there for them.
