Was accepted to GT as an out of state student for aerospace engineering. I’ve heard how hard it was to get in there and I was not thinking I’d get in. My SAT score followed what the guy said in the video. Heavy math (790) and average reading (650). The thing I can say the most is that touring, demonstrated interest, and taking the hardest classes known to man is important. I didn’t have much stem related ECs. I focused on what felt right to me and lead teen mental health groups that presented to school districts around my state (Massachusetts). Right now I’m currently torn between GT and the university of notre dame. good luck to any high schoolers looking to apply!

This is relatively similar to me, I'm an out-of-state student and I wish to be accepted for Aerospace engineering, though I haven't taken the SAT yet or have participated in any STEM-related EC's, though I plan to participate in them this summer. The only thing I practically have as of now is my relatively high unweighted GPA of 3.9, though I'm only in my Junior year, I'm really hoping I can get in.

I wish I could get in for aerospace engineering. I'm scared my sat is going to be bad. I take it in November. I have good grades and a 3.9 gpa. do you think I have a chance with a low sat? (650 math at minimum)

Update* I ultimately decided to go to Georgia Tech, and I’m so happy I did. I toured both schools during the accepted students days and had different options to weigh such as GTs academics and NDs culture. Something that really stuck with me was I went to the head of the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Dpt. at the ND accepted students day telling him my dilemma of where to go. When he heard Georgia Tech he told me: “you should absolutely go to Georgia Tech no doubt about it.”
@galactica_minecraft69038 ай бұрын
And it was the best freshmen year. Great campus and people. Initially I thought the social scene would be dead being a tech school but I couldn’t be more wrong. If you get accepted to Georgia Tech strongly recommend accepting, you won’t regret it.

Hi! Just wanted to remind upcoming seniors that colleges, including gatech, review applications HOLISTICALLY. See, i got accepted with a relatively low SAT (very low when compared to the average). 1200! 😢 But i took the IBDP and had plenty few leadership positions, a major-related internship, and volunteer experiences. Dont think that a single bad aspect would ruin your whole application!

Thanks for watching. I won't be doing any videos on financial aid for the foreseeable future. I encourage you to learn about specific universities' policies on aid for international students by visiting their individual financial aid websites. All colleges also have specific pages devoted to international student application requirements. Good luck.

So do colleges (like gt) also review your resume in regards to opportunities granted to you in high school? Like my school doesn’t offer as many APs compared to other schools. Would they recognize and take that into account?
@CollegeMeister Жыл бұрын
Most high schools send high school profiles to colleges along with students' high school transcripts/recommendations; therefore, colleges are provided with information about what types of opportunities were available to the student within a particular school community. There can be no expectation that you take AP or IB courses, for instance, at a school that offers no IB or AP courses. Good luck.

Also being in-state isn’t going to help if one attends a feeder school of which there are plenty across the state.

Hi, I'm a junior right now and throughout high school, I've always taken the most challenging classes I can take. I had a 3.7 GPA freshman year, but I slumped in my sophomore year getting a 3.4 GPA. But now, in junior year I'm in all AP's and am getting all A-'s/As. Additionally, I have solid extracurriculars and expect 2-3 board positions in my senior year. I also got a1520 on the SAT. What do you think my chances are?

You're getting into a good position, but it will come down ultimately to your final junior year grades, senior year courses/1st quarter grades, and resume/essay. Good luck.

Im scared because I didnt have as much time as others who have been always living here. If I get good ACT/SAT scores would my chances increase? Please be honest

Does EA vs RD make a difference in admission rates? I am OOS and have a great SAT and a near perfect GPA for both 9th and 11th grade but had a mediocre 10th grade GPA due to some extraneous circumstances. I think I can get an awesome GPA for the fall semester and hence I think I can put forth a stronger application for the RD deadline as I can include one more semester of great grades farther removed from the mediocre 10th grade. But if applying RD vs EA will hurt my chances to get into competitive engineering majors, I will likely apply EA.
@CollegeMeister Жыл бұрын
If your GPA will be measurably better AND available to share with Georgia Tech formally by your school for RD vs. EA2, then you can and should consider RD. EA1 is reserved for in-state (Georgia) applicants only. Good luck.

I'm an instate first generation female hispanic mexican student according to Georgia Tech. I have a weighted GPA of 3.7 but I'm still in my senior year, so it could go up. I got a 1070 on my SAT, but I plan on retaking it two more times as well as the ACT. I took a bunch of clubs and have +130 hours of community service and got an award in Physics. I took 6 AP classes and 6 Honors classes and plan to take all my AP exams by the end of next year. I really wanna get my Ph.D in Computer Engineering, but I worry that COVID-19 ruined alot of opportunity I could have had. Do I still have a chance? Update: Going to be a transfer student through the first generation pathway in 2024!

I’m a junior currently, an in-state white female with 3.7 uw and 4.0 w gpa and 5 aps so far (planning on taking 4-5 more my senior year) and 10 honors classes. i think i have decent extracurriculars (xc two years, track one year, tech student association two years (held leadership position for one) and planning on doing it my senior year, nominated for ghp by my cs teacher, and 100+ volunteer hours at my church plus nhs) i’m also aiming for a 1400+ on my sat and planning on getting a few recommendation letters from my cs and engineering teachers. also did band freshman year, not really relevant tho

Some things I would tell my self 2 years ago, I'm a junior, that nobody pushed me to purse are -join like 5 clubs that kind of interest you. Just scope these out, and the more lowkey is better. You want to try to get a leadership position. Get close to the sponsor and involved -Take more APs. But aim for A's. I did 1 freshman year, 3 Sophomore, and 5 this year. I kind of overloaded and 2 sophomore year and 4 this year would have been better. (Difficulty of Ap matters, do stuff that suit your strengths but also be somewhat well rounded) And for course load base it off of how free you are. If you have sports or afterschool commitments then don't do so many -Study for SAT sophomore year summer. Best time to start since you'll know all the math and you're not too busy. -Pick up a sport. If you don't already play one try like track or cross country, or lacrosse or chess or something. No one gets cut from those. Some good things I've done -take online classes to free schedule for more time intensive classes -get close with teachers for college recs -and make lots of friends... it just makes your experience better and people will know you.

@@nateclipps You're doing great man. I reccomend trying to take a dual enrollment GT class like the computer science (I'm taking both this school year my senior year). Also if you know any professors in your family/network try to get projects from them like research or some tasks. Also try to get an internship if your school has a program like that. One thing i regret junior year is taking too many AP's, physics was too much, and start studying for your SAT in your first semester. No joke get that shit out the way so you don't stress over your score. I was going to bed praying for a 1400 even though I used all of my June of summer break to study for the SAT.

Hello there, i am an International student and i am gonna apply to Georgia Tech for fall 2024, just wanted to ask, we dont have GPA systems here but i scored a smth like 82% in grade 9, 90% in grade 10 and 87% in grade 11. I took AP Physics 1 last year and got a 4 too. However, i am taking 5 more APs this year and i also have 1380 on the digital sat. I also have good extra curriculars and a very good amount of volunteer work. I wanted to ask u if i should apply Early Decision or Regular Decision because my Grade 12 term 1 results will be coming late December maybe. So should i apply with that or EA? Btw im appearing for Digital SAT again this October.

Can your school send interim grades half way through the first term? Hundreds of students in Georgia Tech's first- year class were either deferred or waitlisted, so you should still seriously consider EA. Good luck.
