Thanks. I wonder why you don't recommand going for a smart upcycling on module 3 directly. I've done it for each module 3 except quality. It produces about 2 legendary modules per minute. It's composed of 3 parts: - craft module 2 at speed, normal quality - craft modules 3 slowly, with quality modules (16 plants) - the actual upcycler I find it very effective with the natural 50% productivity bonus of the EM plant. I also upcycle my foundries and cryogenic plants in a similar way, rather than producing each ingredient as legendary. It's very effective to do that for those items because they craft very quickly and use a lot of ingredients. I set it up and went away, and by the time I looked back I realized there were hundreds of legendary plants in the box. Probably more than I'll ever use.

It isnt scalable, modules crafting speed too low for mass production, upcycling blue chips or asteroids more efficient for create legendary T2. 2 modules per minute is pretty low
@Demiuuu55 минут бұрын
Yea a craft-recycle cycle with quality on both, and inherent 50% bonus on craft, you lose 62.5% of materials for two quality rolls. In a recycle-recyle loop with quality you lose 93.75% of materials for two quality rolls. So it's 6 times more resource efficient. Oh and EM plants have a module slot more than recyclers so one of the quality rolls is better.

@@ОбычныйЧеловек-щ7м 2/minute isn't that low when starting to get into legendary T3 modules. You need a way to get quality modules for that quality space platform (blue circuit productivity is far away at this stage).

No mention of efficiency modules? I know they're not used much, but for the sake of completeness.

My guess is producing mass bioflux Transform into nutrient Spoil Dumb upsycle
Don't bother with biter eggs for this one. You can split some spoilage into a biochamber loop in Gleba. Those biochambers should use quality and productivity modules (more productivity the higher quality the recipe ingredients are) and create nutrients from spoilage. Since nutrients from spoilage naturally spoil rather quickly, and spoilage is a pretty common ingredient that you often need to get rid of, this is an efficient solution to increasing the quality of your spoilage.

@@NiamhNikali "Gleba" - nope, thanks, scale up Nauvis egg production is simpler, than doing Gleba stuff. Anyway that modules uses only on spaceships (if you prepare for legendary, biters anyway not threat)

If you need legendary tier 3 efficiency modules then you should just dumb upcycle jelly, they craft crazy fast and spoil quickly, that's a good way of doing it but not the only way

On the tungsten carbide - is it indeed better to just use regular ores with this setup? Or a setup processing different qualities of tungsten ore? this is certainly a simpler approach
@YuvalGrossbergoxiral4 сағат бұрын
I did it with the ores like nillaus - works like charm
@88porpoise3 сағат бұрын
It shouldn't make a huge difference if you upcycle ores vs carbide. Using Ore lets you put quality modules in the miners more easily, but you are going to need more upcycling capacity (as each carbide needs two ore and one coal). The reason I would lean towards upcycling the ore is that if I have enough carbide it can be redirected to plates.

Would the productivity from crafting foundries / emps in themselves not help with the smart up-cycling? All the components for foundries are relatively cheap to make on volcanus if a bit tedious and you get the extra 50% productivity from crafting in a Foundry?

For the legendary efficiency modules: Legendary biter eggs -> Legendary nutrients -> Legendary spoilage.

Or just redirect some of the excess spoilage you are burning into a dumb upcycler.

You're right! I did have it there originally but removed it before filming it, it should have input priority for higher quality items
Correct me if I'm wrong, legendary biter spawner does not spawn legendary egg at all right? It can only spawn normal quality egg.

Only normal quality eggs. It does spawn live legendary biters if it goes rouge hoever.

If you ready for legendary stuff, why you think that upcycling of foundry required a lot of ingredients? Steel, green chips, concrete and lubricant very cheap, high crafting speed and base foundry 50% efficiency is perfect. Keep in mind, tungsten isnt free and using dumb upcycling faster deplete ore path.
@melbournewocoffee56172 сағат бұрын
The tungsten carbide recipe with productivity modules has more than the foundry recipe, so more productivity would allow for less usage of the ore patch, you can upcycle however you want though and it would be interesting to see somebody do that

@melbournewocoffee5617 Simple example with creative mode: factorioprints view -OHPP3FGgISmx-oG6piW (youtube dont like links). In this configuration you can get 1 legendary tungsten from only ~770 default quality. If you want test, dont forget set bot speed tech to 100 lvl. I compare you blueprint and it worse - for one legendary tungsten need 3000 (4 time more resources!) default tungsten

One little thing. The math is wrong at the beginning. 1*0.01 = 0.01 and not 10 000. If you have 10000 products going in the math is 10 000*0.01 = 100 so fore 10 000 normal you get 100 legendary. But overall great video explaining everyting. Edit: since it is 0.01 % it is actualy 0.0001 so it is 10 000* 0.0001 =1 so fore every 10 000 normal you get 1 legendary
@hellboy199914 сағат бұрын
also the math is a bit misleading, this is assuming you have 10% quality, and that makes it look like every level of increased quality has the quality value, when only the first upgrade has the quality chance to upgrade, all the other ones are 10% regardless of quality chance.
@88porpoise3 сағат бұрын
It's 0.01% or 0.0001, not 0.01.

@@hellboy19991 4 x level 3 normal quality modules = 10% with legendary quality modules it becomes 24.8% So with 4 legendary level 3 quality modules it is 10 000 * 0.00248 = 24.8 so you get 24.8legendary for 10000 normal input out. I will do a spreadsheet for the calculation of upcycling with legendary productivity and Legendary quality.
