I agree with the idea “I like to spend money on games” the idea of growing a collection that will stay with me ( that my kids can enjoy when they grow up) instead of possibly getting moved out of rotation for that month. Also supporting the devs more directly feels ethically better. Plus it can take me months to finish games, I hate the pressure of quick finish it in a month before it’s gone. That being said I’m speaking from a privileged position where I don’t have to pick and choose.

I’d be willing to hear alternatives but it’s not a biggy. And yeah, the number of games in a catalog doesn’t matter when most aren’t what you want anyway. My worry with ps blockbuster is sony dont want to put day 1 releases yes, but what about more obscure stuff compared to there big hits, what if something like a parrapa sequel was put in the highest tier and could only be played through that? I do worry something like that could become a bigger issue with live services as a whole, goodwill hostages so to speak.

They very sneakily mentioned BotW2 has expanded areas beyond the OG map and sky. I'm hoping this is a tip to why the game wasn't a quick 2-3 year turnaround and done before COVID even started. Also, the elephant in the room with Zelda is always hardware. Feels like the last 5-6 mainline titles were used to push some hardware. Obviously the game is coming to Switch but surely Nintendo knows we at least want a 4K Switch...
