Think it's important to know that they have closed this and at the time of your video the application process was actually suspended temporarily. Only 8 people actually got accepted and around 90-100 people applied for the programme across a range of countries. Not sure if this means that a newer, more streamlined form of CBI will be considered in the future, or if it is entirely off the table - put would probably mention that this hasn't been in effect for several years now and the official opportunity closed in September 2020. Seems the government owes a fair bit of money for processed payments too.

I would much rather do one of the Caribbean CBI programs for $100k. St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis (a little more than $100k) and Antigua and Barbuda are all "real" countries and don't have a wealth tax on real estate. If I want to go to Russia, I will get a visa instead of a $100k citizenship in Moldova. Furthermore, if push comes to shove, I would much rather live in one of the aforementioned Caribbean countries than Moldova. A residency with a real estate purchase in Montenegro allows one to experience low tax rates in a far nicer European country in my humble opinion. However, I appreciate the informative video as always, Mr. Henderson. Keep up the great work and great job with your excellent book.

Interesting option thats for sure. The fact you carry the reputation as a Moldovan if you hold a passport was a good statement Andrew in consideration into how you plan on living/travelling with that passport. As an Australian, Moldova, Montenegro and countries as such that have different visa free options and are on the fringe of the EU are more so interesting and appealing to me than the Carribean CIB's. Can you please do a video on Bulgaria??

Do you know if Moldovan citizens are actually allowed to live indefinitely in Belarus and Kyrgystan?
@arotaruus32533 жыл бұрын
@@chrisb3189 Yes and no. If you have a Moldovan passport then you have non rights in those countries other than tourism. The only thing the a Moldovan passport will give you is Russian citizenship. When you have Russian citizenship you can live in Belarus.
@chrisb31893 жыл бұрын
@@arotaruus3253 Oh good to know. I don't think that that would be of much use to me then. Is there a simplified procedure for Moldovan citizens to get Russian citizenship?
@arotaruus32533 жыл бұрын
@@chrisb3189 Yes there is. Moldovan citizens who want a Russian passport do not need to live in Russia 5 years to obtain citizenship. They can apply for it right away.

Also, Moldova no longer participates in CBI. Pro EU president Maia Sandu canceled the program citing that it was bringing in the wrong people. If Igor Dodon (the pro Russian president) or any other pro Russian president comes to power, this program might be opened again. CBI program in Moldova was opened by Igor Dodon.

I'm from Moldova, and they are going to roll the real estate option of 250k later this year. As well about taxes - there is a very good tax program for the IT sector - 7% flat.If you know someone who considers the real estate option (when it's available) - let me know, might have some options

Seems more suited to Russians than Americans. Why haven’t you ever mentioned Puerto Rico’s act 22 and 20 as a way to escape the IRS for capital gains? Although the presence test is rigorous, a nomad capitalist could still use it as long as the ratio of Puerto Rico days to US days is greater than 1 (so a significant amount of foreign travel would be possible). In addition, becoming Puerto Rican doesn’t involve the dreaded exit tax.

He mentioned Puerto Rico several times in his videos about renouncing the us citizenship
@bbrebozo64175 жыл бұрын
Splinter Division, yes but if a bona fide PR resident with an act 22 grant renounces US citizenship in Puerto-Rico, does Uncle Sam have the authority to impose the exit tax? I figure it would be restricted to real property in the US states only, not the PR home, or stocks purchased while in P.R. right? I’ve watch all of Andrew’s renunciation videos and have never heard him mention PR! Maybe I missed it?

Isn't Moldova's wealth tax just a property tax, similar to what many local and state governments in other countries levy? I was under the impression that it only applied to buildings >120 sq meters.
