Dan, Thanks for the refresher and The verbal reinforcement. I’m eight months into regrowing my beard and have maximized my potential, given my genetics… By following your videos…TO THE T !!! And I have to say this… I have tried dozens of different beard oil companies. Hands-down, barn… My absolute favorite for scent and styling is THE BEARDED MACK!! My all-time favorite scent is there, ROARING 20’S. JB

Also, when trimming, don't chase the perfect beard. Stop, let it settle, come back a couple days later. I've learned that the spot under my mouth is not going to fill in. I "rock what I have" and let it be a part of the beard. Oh....and remember your healthy habits! Great reminders Dan!

Great video, Dan! I've been watching since I started growing. For me, it was making sure I didn't trim my neckline. I was in the beginning, and then you made that video about every good presentation has to have good supporting actors! I took that and ran with it. It took my beard journey to another level. Also, the advice on growing past where you want your beard to be and trimming then! Honestly, I have taken everything you do, and applied it, and it has helped tremendously! I am currently just maintaining the length I'm at, mainly for safety reasons at work😂Thank you again for what you do!

For me, the biggest thing I need to remember... Take a step back from the mirror when looking... lol A few of the things that have been game changers for me: 1. Training the hair, is really more like puppy training. It is training me how to take better care of the hair, like the following items. 2. The better I can comb/brush the hair while damp, the better it dries (Closer to the way I want it). 3. Less is more when it comes to: Heat, products, and working the hair. 4. Again, take a step back from the mirror.

Well said! Your advice always is well-studied and presented. You talked about genetics and many other things - in short, every beard is different. But they have a lot in common. For example, I don’t use heat, yet I’ve learned to modify your advice to where I wait 5 minutes between applying any product and combing or brushing. That has made a world of difference in my beard’s look and feel.
@DanCBearded22 күн бұрын
“Every beard is different, but they have a lot in common.” Absolutely LOVE the phrasing of that, thank you Leo. I have said more longwinded versions, such as every beard is different but there are common facts involved. Yours is better at articulating what I am trying to convey.
@aydan79014 күн бұрын
Awesome video! Definitely agree with everything you've said. Adding volume to the beard definitely requires not trimming down the side and also letting the neck grow out too. I can no longer tame mine with just a comb and brush as it is too curly. The heated brush has fixed this and looks 10x better/longer. Also has made it way easier to continue growing it out, currently at the 4 month mark, but would definitely struggle going further without the heated brush.

I love this video.. Even though I have watched every single video of yours and followed all the tips, tricks and rules, this is a friendly reminder for us old bearding subscribers as well a great video for new subscribers… I would like to add I think has been beneficial for me, is to constantly change it up in terms of beard oil, butters, wash and conditioners, rotate through different companies daily, get all the benefits from all the different carrier oils or blends.. Again, great video!

One thing I didn't hear you mention was that if you want a beard like yours, at some point you have to stop trimming/shaving the neck. I think it's natural to want to keep nice clean lines when it's shorter, but when it starts to get longer, you need those hairs to get more volume and density.

Without heat from my blowdryer routine my beard is completely different (cold shot at the end helps me a lot). I go without heat sometimes and just let the waves and curls go nuts, its a very different look, more like Santa, haha, but also lets the unique aspects of a beard show which is cool!

Heat and trimming is something I struggle with a lot. Heat is just timing issue for me. Setting aside for myself and self-care have always been struggles for me. I love the journey so far, but I want to grow a longer beard, and eventually braid or add Celtic runes in it. I haven't trimmed my beard in about 2 years. I think I finally understand the mindset that women in my life have said it was hard cutting their hair.

@ yes neutral oil, butter and deodorant from BO. Excellent products 🔥 Also I’ve found that keeping my beard braided or up tight in hair ties has been a great help keeping it out of the way, out of zippers 😬 and keeps the beard from getting really dry being in the elements.

As someone who has had some sort of facial hair since i was 18 or 19 i can just say that at 47 with my recent beard being 18 months old and the 1st time implementing beard specific products such as washs conditioners oils and butters and using them properly i have the best beard of my lifetime. Ive had longer but never healthier or overall better looking. And my point is as someone who years ago would have probably looked at a man using products in his beard as a little Sus and un necessary i will say i was wrong and they work.

I was not a believer in heat for my beard. Then i learned the science is there and jumped on board. I do not need it for styling, my beard is naturally very straight. I use it for health of hair. Heat intensity should be understood in relationship to hair porosity. I have extremely LOW porosity, hydrophobic hair. If my blow dryer had a "face of the sun" setting i would use it, and I dont get spilt ends. If a high porosity beard did what i do, i think it would destroy the beard, but my beard has never felt better now that i hit it with high heat after every shower.

I've heard many times, "You can't trim your way to a big beard.". Do you trim before you've reached your target length, and if so, how do you determine when, and how do you go about it?
@DanCBearded5 күн бұрын
Each journey is different and depends on comfort level. In an ideal world, you grow past your goal and trim back to it. However, that may require some awkward phases. If you need to trim along the way, just have to be smart about it. Hard to fully explain in text
@TheAikiToneRanger5 күн бұрын
@@DanCBearded No, that was still helpful, thank you for your response. I used to trim it and it just didn't seem to really get anywhere. Now that I leave at the heck alone, can get a little ratty towards the bottom, but I'm kind of riding it out.

Is it me, or your beard is a bit more curly on the sides compared to what it used to be? Is it because it's shorter?
@DanCBearded22 күн бұрын
For sure more texture. I am treating the sideburns less with heat. Embracing some character there
@jimmyd627922 күн бұрын
People trim the sides at an angle instead of just letting it all grow out at one time aka the 'connectors' . Let time do its thing and be very patient. Accept you will not trim for 6 months at least.
