Great video. But wanted to add something which she didn't mention that I found out from researching. Real estate investor visa, The requirement is 100x the minimum wage which is currently at $450, so $45k, but if that changes next year and goes up, then your real estate investment needs to equal that minimum to continue qualifying to renew your temporary residency until you get permanent. Its a small catch, but important. So almost best to purchase something a bit more expensive.

The law changed in 2021 allowing only 90 days of being outside of Ecuador in total over two years (not each year) if you want to apply for a permanent visa from a temporary visa. If you believe differently, I’d love more info about how to do it as we are renewing temporary visa status now because of that law change.

It's all interesting, but from many locations, especially Canada, traveling back and forth to and from Ecuador is very difficult! Changing planes two or more times in north America and then another couple of times in Ecuador...for older people especially it's a major challenge! It's very discouraging....

@@TheWanderingInvestor But nowadays people travel alot especially back and forth to the US, and the current airline paths to Ecuador cities makes the situation very difficult, especially for older people. It's very discouraging. Changing planes can involve several hours of waiting. Like going from Calgary Alberta via Toronto to Miami, changing to Quito, then changing to Guayaquil, and then Cuenca....plus getting to Vilcabamba or Manta! And traveling back for family etc. Or just as a snowbird!

On paper yes. But very weak CFC rules. So it depends on your structure.

In practice no, plenty of accountants, immigration lawyers etc in Ecuador still insist there is no legislation to collect offshore personal income tax there but if you listen to certain "experts" they will tell you otherwise

Can a lower Credit card, let's say $1,000, along with a $1300 government pension check be enough to qualify for a Retirement visa or does a Credit Card not ab;e tpo supplement income on a retirement visa? Let’s assume that if you have visa free access, you should be fine. If you do not have visa free access as is, they will make your residency application complicated.

Hi Ladislas, I have an Ecuadorian friend down there--Is the last option possible or do I need to be in a relationship with her? & if someone were to not do the 6 months X 2 they'd lose the PR, but if they fail to do the 9months X 2 they can still renew the TR? Cheers!

You can always renew the TR as you wish. You just never upgrade to PR

I believe that is correct. It's quite annoying (and illogical) because most people will have contributed to the economy for 30+ years to "earn" their UK pension and the fact that they are living abroad means that they would not be a drain on the UK economy as many other pensioners would be (Pension credit, healthcare, housing etc).

I suppose after someone gets their UK pension they can stay a UK resident and just move around a few Countries for three months in each Country or so, so three months in Mexico then three months in Cuba then three months in Ecuatore etc for a few years if they wanted, and still get their increase in their UK pension.
