The “Perfect Weekly” works great to eliminate algae. It saves a lot of time and work. It’s well worth the money spent and the results are terrific. Leslie’s Pool store is very helpful for water testing, including the phosphate level.

I get yellow mustard algae bad in spa connected to my pool and water is clear. I brush it away, add the Leslie Copper Algaecide but also found you have to add a lot of chlorine as well since algaecide works with chlorine to kill the algae. The problem with Phosphate remover is that it will quickly clog your filter! So unless you want to constantly clean that heavy filter go ahead!

Chlorine raises ph so you will have to add some acid if you shock the pool as part of the treatment. Algaecide works with chlorine so need higher chlorine levels too.

Is there anything else I can use other than green to clean because I only can find it online and wanted to know if there was an alternative that I can get from n a store like Walmart.

Use a clarifier to drop the dead algae to the floor; from there, you can vacuum it to waste. Also, make sure you clean or backwash your filter before and after algae treatment.

What shock should I use? Chlor-brite or power powder plus? I have a 6K above ground pool.

CHLOR-BRITE for weekly shock treatments, power powder plus only for algae treatments, its stronger then chlor brite, which means its more harsh on vinyl pools. Power powder plus is good for weekly shock for in ground plaster pools.

wish you would explain why run a pump with green water? I'm a novice but would think I would treat the green water first then run my pump, that way the green algae will not enter my pump/filter...

To disperse the chemicals to reach all the algae spores, you must have circulation, which requires a pump running. If this chemical does not get the algae, there will be pockets of alive algae in either the piping or the pool that can start growing again.

You WANT the algea in the filter... Dead optimally.... Then you wash it off. Clean water is 50/50 filtration/ chemicals. With no filtration youre throwing money down the drain, with chemicals... So to speak

This Instruction was for 15,000 gallon pool. Would it be safe to assume to use half the noted products (green to clean & shock) for a 6k gal pool?
