I think another way to get the best footage is to have HDR enabled while editing. I made a recent video walking through the steps for this in DaVinci Resolve.

Hi there Stefan.. very insightful video as always but I need more help if you can. You see, I am just a casual vlogger and I prefer my Pocket 3 (similar to my Pocket 2) to be as simple and carefree as possible. What I mean by that is my wide angle lens is kept in the box. I have no intension to buy black mist filter, ND filters or any thing else that needs to be attached to the Pocket 3. Hence my question is this, with just the bare bones Pocket 3, how should casual users like myself get the most out of the Pocket 3 video quality? Thanks a bunch in advance!

It's good enough out of the box. Just be careful in very bright light or just carry an nd 16 or 32 and you'll be good to go! It's great all around.

How do you know what darkness of the nd filter to put on to achieve 1/60s for 30fps? Does the pocket 3 display the shutter speed while filming?

If you're in changing light you will have to rely on auto ISO and pick an ND that gives you a good average of the proper exposure. It all depends on the light.

I understand that. But I like to shoot clips in manual on traditional cameras and have not yet used the Pocket. I’m just wondering how you can monitor the shutter speed while filming?

sharpness and noise reduction? Any general use? Around 3 pm, a huge amount of noise appears in the child's face. So I turn on the lights everywhere, but even so everything is sharp, but the people are not. I do not understand why. As soon as it starts to get slightly dark and I set the noise reduction to -2, the picture is a huge disaster. Noise everywhere. As soon as I start reducing the noise, the people are quite out of focus, without detail, almost blurred. I really don't understand how one can be pleasantly surprised by this device. It's not for filming people.

I don't go for the sunglasses anzlogy. Know why? Sunglasses stop down your aperture (pupil) - ND filters REPLACE the apeture and allow the shutter to prioritize. So they both help but in opposite ways. Also ND allow less light to hit the entire sensor where a variable aperture has a bit of a pinhole effect, but that's for another discussion lol.

Простите но вы ошибаетесь по поводу выдержки при 60 и 120 fps. Кажды кадр - фотография в вашем видео будет снято со слишком коротким затвором и помимо того что будет темнее, будет ещё и строб - мерцание картинки. При 60 и 120 FPS затвор должен быть так же 1/60 и 1/120 соответственно.

I kept buying and returning the Pocket 2. Know why? FIDDLEY bits. Do-it-all handles, and terrible tracking. This is finally a finished, if not perfect pocket stabilized camera. Thanks!
