I just sold a system with an i7 8700, 32GB of RAM and a 3060 12GB with 2TB of storage. I did not market it as high end and I sold it for $620. It really helped that the competition in that price range were people that spent a lot of money on cases and RGB, and put turds in them. Think R5 2600X with an RX 580 and 16GB of RAM, marketed like some of these deluded people.

OH! The 12400F build with a RTX 4060 and 32GB of RAM! That reminds me of a Facebook Market Place ad I saw local to me! Intel, i3 12100F, a decent Asus motherboard, pared with 96GB of RAM, or something weird like that, and RTX 3080, and a slow 1TB SATA SSD, for something around $2,700.00 I think it was. It was like the guy bought all the best pieces and then bought the cheapest CPU to I guess try maxing out his profits? He had more money tied up in the cost of RAM than he did in the processor, motherboard, and SATA SSD combined. The RAM and the GPU were the most expensive bits, and the RTX 3080 had already just been superseded by the RTX 4080. I have no idea what crack that guy was smoking, but in the end no one bought the machine because of the mishmash of parts.

So I know Jay is kind of taking the piss here and trying to be funny, but his strategy of lowballing and trying to "unfirm" sellers is exactly what people like me can't stand about selling on public marketplaces like this. If someone lists the price as firm and what they've listed is not acceptable for you, then move on and if they come back with a lower price later, then engage them. Trying to offer obscenely lowball amounts of counteroffering sellers who said they aren't open to them is a waste of their time. When I list things, I list them for what I know they're worth and having a dozen responses of people offering 75% less or even worse, going "What's your best price" right off the bat is a good way to ensure that you get a very snide response back. The sellers have a right to ask what they want or need. Show them the respect you think you deserve as the buyer.
@iTzMAS
@iTzMAS 6 ай бұрын
A firm price should be a good price, not a bad price, if your price is good then you don't need to be firm, but if it's not, then no one would buy it for that price.
@PXAbstraction
@PXAbstraction 6 ай бұрын
@@iTzMAS As I said, if you think the price is unfair and the buyer has listed it as firm, then move on instead of wasting their time with a counteroffer they said they didn't want. Honestly that $4,000 RTX4090 rig wasn't a TERRIBLE build for the price...but they fucked up as follows: a) they should have splashed out for a MUCH better motherboard (X670E) to support the RAM + CPU they bought, b) they ABSOLUTELY should have splashed out for a WD SN850X or better (for that price) and c) again, they should have a 1,000w (platinum) PSU to support all those thirsty components; 850w is cutting it WAY too close. Having an extra body is a big thing. Not only for "reinforcement" but especially to be a buffer. 1 on 1, it is extremely difficult to pay attention to the item you are there to look at. Side note; if in the US and legal in your state, or you otherwise have legal means. Carry protection, and not the rubber kind. At least when dealing with high value purchases.

I find myself thinking I am a bad pc dad for the rigs I built our sons. Then I see these things J is looking at and I realise my standards are just really high. Our 6 y/o uses a 6700xt with a Ryzen 5 5700x and cost well under £1,000 letting me know how all over the place your prices are. Some of these rigs Jay looked over were genuine budget gamer scabby , smoke crack, rigs. Cheers for the look.

Tears up 10th gen intel cpu's but has nothing but praise for a system with a 4060ti in it. I assume he doesn't know it's only a 8x card. 10th gen intel is fine for games today. cutting pci-e bandwith in half and then crippling it with a 128 bit memory bus isn't.

This is a video that no tech youtuber should ever be doing. More than half of his audience is people that couldn't tell you what cpu they have in the PC they are selling. People lowballing nowadays is out of control. Jay enters the chat, I'd try to lowball him. I haven't had many issues with Jays videos or his stance on most things but this is probably where I draw the line and I didn't make it through this video and didn't even watch whatever video he said he lowballed in already. Kind of a dick move bud.

I find purchasing from an individual they tend to be delusional on what they want to make of the sale, I know most people want to get a good sales value but you want an honest value not a delusional value IMO.

I always tell the person to come and test system / parts out before you buy it. Plus I also stand by my builds for service if needed. I've been doing this for years. I have not had one of my system die or return to me at all. (Thank God ) Now I have use some of the used parts to upgrade a few older systems in my day. Now I do have a few people that comes just to have a system cleaned

To be fair/ yes old parts/ but you do gotta make a profit. I built the pc and alot of my parts are cheaper then a store bought one i also take the risk of putting it together and charge my labor and shipping ontop of it. IF i sell it for how much i bought the parts for why even sell ready built pc's in the first place? I just think this is a little crazy NOW DONT GET ME WRONG scamming like some people do is RIDICULOUS but not getting free pc parts or discounts like everyone does. Doesn't mean we CPU Sellers shouldn't make money selling a good and well working product.

I build and sell PCs. deal hunt to get parts below cost because there's already no margins and add whatever labor costs. Assembly, doing all the updates, benchmarks, stress testing, (memory tuning depending platform) My prices are very fair in my location especially since where I'm people cant source certain parts and have to pay for shipping. So i charge about 8-10% of what tax would be as my labor costs. These are new parts. Problem with alot of people is they think they can build cheaper or they try to build and end up calling me to fix their builds that dont work. Then you also get delusional morons who think they can just low-ball for a new build who i just ignore.
