Minor detail but the pick attack on the string skipping part of the solo is wild. Josh is such a sick player.

Great video! Also, it would be awesome to see how to get the perfect 2000s rock tone (like Chevelle, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace etc.)
@becominghuman3561 Жыл бұрын
Chevelle was 100% Mesa Mark IV and I believe Pete used a tech-21 sansamp to boost it. Linkin and Three Days Grace are mostly Mesa Dual/Triple Rectifier’s! But I would also love to see a video!
@camilo080808 Жыл бұрын
Linkin Park and Three Days Grace probably used a tubescreamer + mesa boogie dual recto + Marshall jcm800... same idea like in this video. Hope this helps
@bradylasserre9320 Жыл бұрын
The commonality in that era/sound was a Mesa cab. It's arguable the amp is is interchangeable but more importantly, it wasn't a boosted/tight sound. Flubby (in a good way) and huge. Most of the time mid scooped. Through a Mesa cab and you are 95% of the way there.
@becominghuman3561 Жыл бұрын

Sounds killer! It'd be great to get a video on how to get lead guitars to pop like that solo too! Completely unobstructed and the focus of attention without sacrificing the integrity of the rhythm guitars - a problem I have in my own demos, it all turns to a blurry mess, likely because I'm not carving enough out with EQ/multi-band compression etc... Cheers from sunny old England!

9:30 the eq on the Rectifier is passive not active. The tonestack in that amp is pretty much the same circuit as the Peavey 5150 or even most Marshall heads. Interaction wise it's the same as the other mentioned amps, the only noticable difference is how the presence behaves in modern mode. Turning the mids up is not the same as turning the bass and treble down. The Peavey Triple X is the only amp in that plugin that really has an active eq.

GOOD VIDEO ERMIIN!!! you have not shown the FX section where there is the Parametric EQ pedal activated (on preset 4). An explanation of adjustment with the large possibilities of this pedal would have been interesting with you ;-)
@SystematicProductions Жыл бұрын
I considered it, but it would've bloated the video with another section that most people would have skipped, which would have reduced the average view duration, which means the algo would've shown it to less people, which means less people would've seen everything etc. We have to pick our battles on these platforms sometimes.
@TOTO-nr8vu Жыл бұрын
@@SystematicProductions ok it's true I hadn't seen it from that point, it's still a video very provided by your explanations which brings us a very rich content in the end, thank you for explaining the structure of the sound with so much of passion.

Triple Rec we generally felt was overkill. You needed to crank it up so loud to get the tone sweet spot that it largely defeated the point.

I only ever did that because it was necessary due to less than ideal raw tones. We have so many options for creating tones these days, that we can get very close from the raws.
