Hi Josh! I am a huge fan of your work with Sylosis. Thank you so much for doing these tone videos. I purchased both of your plugins. I think by far your newest plugin is one of the better guitar plugins I have worked with. Thank you so much for giving back to the guitar community, and I hope to see you perform live someday over at the United States. I wish you all the best! Cheers!

Just a note about Robb Flynn's tone.. He always used Marshall 1960BV cabs (with the 70 watt Marshall G12-Vintage/V30-MF speakers). He did record using his block letter 5150 (Crunch channel, with a Boss SD-1), adding a 300 watt Line 6 head for blending tones and effects (after "The more things change").. Although, since switching to Kemper, he uses a 5150 profile for the older stuff, and a Randall Satan profile for the newer stuff (and he has always used an EMG 81 in the bridge, and an HA in the neck, when applicable).

I'm a huge fan of your tone..have been since the Conclusion days..these eq tutorials have been awesome..you're straight raw tracks sound incredibly powerful before any eq do you do any DI pretreatment or is just a combination of clean playing and pick attack?
@JoshMiddletonOfficial10 ай бұрын
I don’t do anything to the DI tracks. Just fresh strings and dig in with the pick attack. I recently mixed a song for someone where the engineer got the guitarist to track the DI through an Avalon U5 with some EQ on and it sounded SO weird. Was impossible to get the usual tones I like. I tried to undo the EQ on the U5 but it was a struggle. Never do anything to a DI on the way in. If you want to EQ a DI, do it at the start of the chain if you reamp

Love these tones !! Still interested in "I Sever" or "Apex Of Disdain" kind of tone...Seems like they don't have a lot of gain but the sound so full.How do you achieve that ? Does it have to do with the picking style,or the tone knob of the guitar ? Because it sounds so full but not harsh.
@JoshMiddletonOfficial10 ай бұрын
Tone knob is always up full on the guitar. Solid pick attack helps. The CoS guitar tone was a 6505+ on the green channel. Tbh, I was trying to emulate the thick midrange of a block letter. This was before I got my block letter 5150. Getting this tone from this plugin is doable. The main element is always the cab. The impulse response on the bottom right speaker of “Cab 2” in my IR pack is the 2005 speaker I used on Cycle of Suffering. Again, just a single SM57 mic on that record
