What’s the craziest travel transport you’ve ever experienced? I drove from a Jerry Garcia Band show(with Merl Saunders and Jorma Kaukonen no less ) from French's Camp south of Garberville to Stinson Beach on Highway 1... on three hits of purple microdot listening to my friends black labrador retriever tell me stories of the time he was on The Tonight Show and how Carson was a great guy, treated him well... all the while believing I was playing a video game where if I didn't keep the double yellow line close to the left side of the Ford LTD I'd lose my last life by going over a cliff that was on the far right side of the yellow....

You deserve 2 thumbs up! My craziest transport story comes from Bolivia! A small group and I were travelling up a mountain in the back of a pick up truck. Winding roads, goats and coming so close to the edge we thought we were going to die, and not just once. We laughed and cried the whole time, approx 2 hours one way. But it was worth every tear because the locals who lived in this remote mountain village welcomed us with song and quinoa. I also had some similar experiences when living in Colombia travelling by bus to Bogotá through mountains. One driver was so fast around corners that someone threw up a few rows behind me. So, goo and bad memories, lol. So glad you did this vlog- good to know what to expect! Thanks Heidi and Adam 🥰🙏
@TheCountryCollectors2 жыл бұрын
lol oh yes we have those stories too! Omg in Bolivia we took a taxi from La Paz to our accommodations in the mountains and we had to drive on the WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS ROAD. It was crazy - did you do that? People bike down it too! Saw a bunch of people wipe out, and some even die going off the edge. A little too risky for my liking!
@nancysantamaria39242 жыл бұрын

Hi guys! What a fun busride! We have experienced a busride too from Belgium going to Paris(back and forth). It was really crazy coz when we want to get back to Belgium, the busdriver didnt let us in the bus coz he thought we were not Belgians coz we look like Asians 🙈. He said we should have a visa. But we don need visa's coz we had our Belgian ID's and passport 🙄. So we had to book another trip again. It was so unfair! We should have complained to the customer service, but we didnt. We liked the bus experience though. Your experience was awesome, you had a huge delicious breakfast and a awesome tropical beach view. Would have done the same 🤩 Enjoy guys!

Back in 1980 I travelled through the US by Greyhound for a month. Greyhound had a deal for Canadians where you could travel for a month for $99.00. It was there way of thanking Canadians for getting the US personnel out of Iran. I was 20 at the time. It was probably the craziest month of my life. I don't know how many times I had to talk my way out of getting beaten up. I travelled with a guy that just got out of San Quentin for murder. I had a gun pulled on me. I got run out of Tucson by a couple of deputies, just because I had long hair at the time. The list goes on and on. Sleep was the least of my problems, but it was a big part of making me who I am today.
@TheCountryCollectors3 жыл бұрын
Wow! What a deal! I have never had that problem with the long hair as I don’t have any!!!! Sounds like quite an adventure you had. Something you could write a book about I’m sure! And a quick tounge is essential for getting out of jams! You never know when something or someone might come up or at you. I have never had a murderer as a travel companion...that I know of but if he did his time I guess it’s all good. Travel heals the soul and makes us strong. It’s something everyone should try at least once. And it isn’t always pretty. I have been in riots in ecuador, lost in the jungle in Costa Rica, almost kidnapped in South Africa, run for my life Hondoras and so many more. And it is for sure the reason I am who I am today. Thanks for watching and for the comment! Stay tuned for more travel adventures!

Ooo how was that trip? We have heard wonderful things! Yes, fly into Mexico City and ti Puerto Escondido. We flew Volaris from Puerto Escondido to Mexico City and it was great and very affordable. There are small charter flights from PE to Oaxaca City - I heard cost about $150, not sure how to find the contact though, maybe search online. The bus was pretty rough, but so worth it once we got there!

@@TheCountryCollectors puebla is pretty cool. You can take a local bus tour to see some of the 300+churches. I was in Veracruz close to el centro visiting my mex. friends. Don’t think I saw any American tourist. Mainly native tourist.

apparently the bus drive from CDMX to Pinotepa Nacional was crazy but my time in the military prepared me for being able to sleep anywhere 😂😂😂

I went to Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca in the large vans, I had a 7 month old with me and had the seats all the way in the back. I could not take nausea medicine because it make you drowsy and I had to care for the baby. It was rough

Oh my goodness Erandy - you are a trooper, that must have been very difficult. The sacrifices we make for our loved ones! I bet you didn’t do that again 😄 Thanks for sharing with us!

I've taken the 2nd class bus to Pochutla (Puerto Ángel/Zipolite area) 3x, twice at night, and once during the day. This is back in the day though - early 2000s. Not sure if there's even a 2nd class bus still! Lol. But it was 8 hours, and very uncomfortable. The night rides were scary because it's so dark and twisty, and because the daytime ride (which I'd taken first), was exhilarating but terrifying and I already knew how dangerous it actually looks. Would I do it again? In a ❤beat! 😂

Hey was the bus really scary at any point? I have a bus ride scheduled from PE to Oaxaca coming up

Not terribly. It was just long and windy. You should be fine. The Corona virus factor was a little intimidating we got here safe. It’s worth it for the beach you will find at the end!

I never take red eye air flights. I have taken red eye from Mexico City to a lot of places and they were ok. The buses are comfortable but of course I prefer to sleep in a bed.

Oh man I’m Vietnam they have sleeper buses with beds and they give you dinner!

The vans run in the early morning and get you to PE much faster/cheaper.

Craziest transport, 2 days from Donovan State prison to Solano Stae Prison, stopping at 6 prisons on the way, an overnight in Corcoran, 120 degree cell, chained on a bus with metal seats, dressed in a toilet paper thin orange jump suit and white boxers, flip flops, hand chained at the waist so you can barely scrath your nose...
