I really enjoyed your video on Puerto Escondido . Very informative. I was in PE last President's Day Weekend, 2022. Really did alot for the short time was there. I got there on Saturday at around 11Am, My hotel was Hotel Acuerios at Playa Zicatela. It was too early to check in, so i ate next door at Argentinos. Then rested a couple hours at the beach and went to check in. I rested at the hotel cause I was tired from flying all night and driving to the Tijuana Airport from Los Angeles Later I went by taxi to LA Punta to see the Sunset. That was awesome! Then at night I visited this night outside market that sold lots of handmade items. Then on Sunday after breakfast, I visited by taxi Playa Angelito. There I unexpectedly went on a boat ride and saw a sea turtle . Later I went on this packed little bus to visit. Mazunte, and Zipolite. It .was very memorable to see a part of Mexico I knew nothing about. Thanks to KZbin, I was prepared on what I would see. Planning to go again next year.

We are here right now. My take. La Punta is a party young vibe zone. It has very little to do with Mexican culture. It's very over priced, and busy! But hey, if you want a million options in Acai bowls, this is your spot! This is NOT our vibe. Where all the cool kids hang? More like under 20 hippy/squatter crowd vibe willing to spend money for that "vibe". Getting around…we used the Collective…easy, and only 12p per person along the highway. Also, you keep calling the town Puerto….that just means "Port".

I’m a senior adult male. It’s been a dream to visit Puerto, and…. ideally not leave. A couple questions. 1) How’s the Latin dance scene? 2) How easy is it to find organic foods, true fresh juice bars, paleo or gluten free meals, health food stores or might the mercado meet that need? 3) How about some jazz or blues or even old country music. And if I were lucky enough to find a crazy lady willing to dance close with this ole codger….. 😊 what’s the chance of finding some easy listening slow dance music? 4) What’s your idea of security concerns around town? Thanks for your response. All are welcomed. Oh, one more! 5) How insane are the restrictions if something like Covid strikes. I’m old but one for personal freedoms and not one for the jabs and breathing restrains. Thx!!!

Great video. Not sure it is so "hidden" anymore, but a gem... yes. We are leaving Oaxaca City and heading to Puerto Escondido in a week. So looking forward to it. I hope you were able to get out a bit while stuck in Mexico City for a night. We loved that city. Safe travels brother.

I have spent a lot of time in Puerto Escondido and absolutely despise La Punta. Most of the visitors there have their heads deeply imbedded up their butts: they have no interest in Mexico or Mexican culture, minimal interest in nature and are profoundly disrespectful to the locals. You hit the nail on the head with your comment about Bali - it is so sad that young people are attracted to generic, interchangeable destinations like Tulum, Bali and what they are now doing to La Punta. Everyone is chasing the same wave, the same smoothie, the same acai bowl, the same rave music and the same social media posts. There are endless spectacular beaches on the Oaxaca Coast. People watching this video should make an effort to see them.
@JustinPooreVlog2 жыл бұрын
Agree with all this.

Agree. I live in Mérida, 3 hrs from Tulum I was lucky to visit it several times before the Instagram genéric people, dj, vengan bla bla . Now I hate it the drug dealers are harrassing you in the streets, restaurants and bars. The crime Is even worst.

@JustinPooreVlog2 жыл бұрын
I only know of the one in La Lunta. There is a more serious volleybally scene in Puerto but I don't much about it because it's mainly locals and people who are actually good.

There is a Selina Coworking in Zicatella that is great for remote working and reliable. Outside that, the wifi can be spotty in Puerto. There are cafes scattered throughout that have wifi and are good for sending emails, but if you need to do serious work I would recommend the Selina

Why are the tours so much more expensive if you look to book online?

No idea. Maybe we got a better price because it was a less touristy time of year or maybe because we negotiated in person and didn't book it online.

Although your video is well laid out, chock full of great tips, you left out the part where you give back... Puerto Escondido is supremely suffering from tourism overload, issues around garbage disposal, water, and housing area just a few. Do better, please don't just encourage people to come and exploit the area. You've got a platform to make change, and yet...?
