#1: time #2: no heat, don’t diffuse on high heat!! #3: products! you don’t need expensive products, invest a little into a good set of products. (Shes moistures or John Frieda line is good to start) #4: deep condition at least once a week to moisturize while you transition! #5: to stimulate hair growth do a scalp massage once a week at least in the shower #6: start finger curling your hair to help stimulate curls when starting transitioning #7: if you’re lazy do protective styles instead of styling curls! (Braiding after showers, use head wraps, headbands) #8: the BIG chop, get a trim or cut of some sort when transitioning, then eventually chop the DEAD ends, if you don’t it will stunt hair growth. #9: find your hair type. #10: take pictures once a week to track curl growth and for encouragement !!!!!!!!DO NOTS!!!!!! #1: don’t use a cotton towel to dry hair #2: don’t brush when dry #3: don’t compare to other girls hair, you’re hair is different! and beautiful

I've been properly curly for a year now but I didn't use to straighten my hair that much but I also wasn't caring for my hair like it was curly and I would like to point out that not caring for your curls can also damage your hair, regardless of whether you use heat or not. Now I am the most confident I have ever been because I wear my curls proudly :)

Yes gal, this was me around 3 and a half years ago, I Didn't know how to style my hair after my mum stopped doing it for me and my hair was constantly in a bun dry damaged not from heat but from breakage Because I would tug it and brush it while it was still drying. I hated my hair and it made me feel insecure most days! If you don't want your hair big and curly maybe try braiding it when it's wet because it comes out neat and you don't have to brush it when dry buttttt this can cause dandruff so be careful x

That is amazing! I feel so happy that I found this comment because is the exact same thing that happened to me!!! I'm 14 right now (freshman) and I've been acting for years now and every job that I have has loved my curls! But as I got older around middle school time, I had to straighten my hair for jobs more often. I would straighten my hair about 1 every 2 months for all of the 6th and 7th grades until I had jobs back to back all of the 8th grade. I didn't wear my natural hair for a single day in 8th grade until the girls at my school would say rude things to me about wanting to be white and how I'm not black because my hair wasn't curling anymore. I decided to work on my hair and I've been natural for 2 months now!!

After getting a perm when I was 16, to manually curling it constantly since it's been bleached, curly hair is something I always wanted but never thought I had (I would always blow dry and brush it straight after washing it) and all it took was a bit of sea salt spray and letting it air dry to realise they were there! Hey Jayme, I believe I have type 2C/3A hair, but I have a hard time keeping definition in my curls by day 2/3/4...I’m also still a bit puzzled when it comes to what products to use and in which order. My hair ends up feeling dry and brittle by the end of day 3, especially when I try wetting it again and it dries. I’m so clueless 😅 my hair is also down to my mid-lower back now. I guess my problem is, I don’t put A LOT of product on shower day because my hair is prone to getting oily at the roots, and I don’t put just a little because I want curl definition.
@paigelove7214 жыл бұрын
try a leave in conditioner!!! you seem to mainly struggle with dryness. just make sure that you apply it at the mid shaft and down. also, try deep conditioning fairly often! as much as once a week :)

Paige Love thank you for the reply! What deep conditioners do you recommend?! I’ve only used the briogeo one and the Shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil one that smells like play dough lol

If your scalp is oily but you want more definition you should really clarify first before shampooing or use a clarifying shampoo. Work it in really well with shampoo scalp brush and it makes your hair really dry/stripped that way you dont have to feel worried or hold back when layering products. I have the same hair type. I recommend bounce curl clarifying shampoo or the curl smith scalp line. For added moisture I would use shea moister curl enhancing smoothie, bounce curl leave in conditioner or one of curl mix moisture products, after washing and detangling of course. I usually do a hair cream or leave-in after I brush my hair when its dripping wet, then finger coil and scrunch it or just scrunch with microfiber towel. Then add gel with prayer hands on top and underneath, no raking. Then air dry or diffuse on low air with medium heat without moving or touching. When hair is completely dry, seal with a jojoba based or grapeseed based hair oil for softer look, or seal with bounce girl hairspray for harder look. This process usually gives me definition that lasts for days if I sleep in bonnet or silk/satin pillowcase. If i want more volume i shake at roots when dry. For refreshing I use shea moisture coconut hibiscus hold and shine moisture mist. When you notice your roots getting oily again then it's time for another wash day.

I’ve never straightened my curls but I used to always wear my hair up in a ponytail EVERY day. I’ve been using curl defining gel for like 2 years, but now I learned and bought a couple (trusted) curl products. In the beginning of the year my curl pattern was pretty good but now my curls are so loose and aren’t defined.

Always bringing us gold content👏🏼 I would like to mention that diy hair masks have been so good to me, BUT it's important to inform yourself before using them, specially about the moisture and protein balance part, cause I did a big mistake with that at the beginning and it was a big step back in my transition. But if you learn how to use them they'll be your best friends in this journey. Plus it's a cheaper and healthy way to deep condition, give protein, shine and many other good things to your curls. Loved the video so much dear Jayme❤

Do you do any henna treatments? Your hair is so shiny and healthy! Do you do any hair masks? I saw your no products routine and my hair is waaaay too frizzy without a little cream, and the shrinkage is so bad!!
@jaelalandowski79804 жыл бұрын
Cake Princess She most likely has low porosity hair. If you have high porosity that means your pores are more open and can easily frizz up faster, which means your going to need creams and oils to seal the pores and keep moisture out. There are hair masks that you can use to help though, but again it’s all about your hair type :)

when I was in around fourth grade I had a big problem with hair self confidence since I went to a school with mostly white people and it made me want straight hair but I didn't know how and my mom didn't want me to straighten it so I always had it in a braid and never would Un knot it so it was messing up my hair. Guys leaving your hair in specific hair styles kills it. I left my hair in a bun for so long it got so knotted I did a big chop from my hips to my ears. Now I know how to style my hair but I'm still learning thank you so much!

Sometimes we lose our curls just by aging. Focus on making your hair healthy. My hair was 3a-3b when I was young, but sadly it loosened to waves by my teen years. Didn’t straighten it much and hardly used heat. It was just getting older. Something we have no control over. If it stays curly, you are blessed! Everyone please go cruelty-free for your beauty products. Thank you.

do hot showers count as heat damage???? im screwed
@_.yuariia._4 жыл бұрын
@@lindseylowe8344 I'm guessing so, especially with the temperature I take them at- So we'll both be royally screwed 😵
@May-zn3my4 жыл бұрын
@@lindseylowe8344 No it doesn't count, taking warm showers is actually good for the hair since it opens up the pores but at the end to conceal all the stuff you put in it you should rinse with cool water. But if its to hot I think hair is more fragile (I'm not 100% sure I just know you should you warm water not too hot)
