Hi Sam, thanks for posting this earlier this year - just found you today. I am confused as all heck about the lyrics for my songs! I have all these overlapping vocals and am not sure if I'll be able to figure it out, but I'm giving Musixmatch a try. And I agree, their name is weird! So far, I did successfully sync one somewhat complex one, and it got verified! So now I'm working through the others. Just took the Academy courses and tests. Happy Holidays to you!

It's amazing that in the whole chaos of music distribution, there is something simple and straight forward as musixmatch. We did this for a song a friend put out and the lyrics appearead on spotify after a week. We're still waiting on instagram and google. Though I have only one worry: I've seen that some distribution services include Instagram Stories and others don't. Tell me if I'm correct, if yours does you'll find your song just with no lyrics, up until you add them with Musixmatch. What happens if my plan doesn't include Instagram Stories, and as of now the song is not available on Instagram, and I add lyrics with Musixmatch? Will the song magically appear on IG? Seems to good to be true.

Thanks Sam, this is so helpful. The tutorials they offer seem really outdated. The word by word function doesn't appear to be available anymore and no one seems to have it live on Spotify. I did their academy tutorial and it doesn't seem current either. Is the tagging just to help the algorithm? It plays through well enough without them when I sync. I just broke up sections with spaces. Not sure of the benefit of tagging instrumental either. Thanks again!

Yea! In the video was the first time that I used the tagging haha...so I'm not sure how useful it is yet. I tagged the song "Falling Away" in the video and I am looking on Spotify now and it doesn't seem like the tags are there...so idk it's probably not super necessary.

@@AlizioHerman Yes I did. Unfortunately the app is very glitchy and refuses to get better. So all I could do is wait for a week, uninstall the app, do the spotify pairing again and hope that it has finished processing the song, and repeat the process next week if not. My song was processed after about a month. Hope this helps.

Musixmatch is garbage. Spent an entire day inputting, tagging, and syncing my lyrics. Few days later, it's still stuck on Sync Pending. I go in, thinking maybe I need to verify from my artist profile, only to find it automatically removed all the tags and sync. Flipping 10 hours down the drain. Tech support has been useless as well. You'd think it'd be a simple thing to implement, just allow srt uploads and it'd be done, but no, Musixmatch _had_ to reinvent the wheel, and they did it the worst possible way.

@@shadowstranquil I like Genius for inputting lyrics, but it's not linked to Spotify, and doesn't have any sync capabilities, so sadly there's no actual solution. I'd be tempted to program something myself, but without API to Spotify, it wouldn't have much use other than for myself, I could embed lyrics on my own website. If I could get access to my music's Topic channel on KZbin, I could add subtitles to the tracks there, that would be a step in the right direction. I've tried getting my own channel converted to official artist channel, but that's not happened yet.
