What type of contract does lofi Girl offer? I heard the license per song. Do they have a standard price offer or how does that all work?

I think the only hangup I have about thinking about lofi girl is that I do not want to sacrifice something unique for the sake of getting a placement.

@@jovidepine5459 I side with Jovi here, “play the game” so to speak then peel away from that as you accrue your own audience and start to develop your sound. Producers/composers have been doing that since the beginning, you may know them for their craziest song but guarantee they didn’t come out the gate with it! All in all @just.recover, it’s only music and it’s yours to do what you want with. Nobody is forcing having your track on a playlist or signing with a label, just have fun!

I disagree. Au5, who is a very credible artist, said that no matter what kind of music you make, there will be an audience out there somewhere of people who genuinely love your content. So would you rather compromise and make something you absolutely love, just for the sake of clout or pleasing people? Or would you rather perform something that both you and your audience love?

Hi. I really like your videos, I used to try to make music in a completely different style, but ever since I found Lo-fi music, I’ve become addicted to it. Lo-fi Girl is the channel I listen to almost every day and gather ideas. I’ve downloaded the 90-day free trial version of the Ableton suit and I think I’ll buy it because I really like it. I also updated my Splice account, where I also bought the Rc-20 Retro Color and the Serum. I got some Lo-fi plugins and now I’m cutting it with renewed vigor. Greetings: from Germany.

Great video, dude! Absolutely love that 🤩 Started to watch that yesterday and finished today :) love the tips on distribution. I also love LG. And have ever wondered how to get spotted by. And here you provide some great thoughts. So its like a circle: you need to have an audience to be found and then you will represent an interest for them. But I guess on the moment when you already grew your audience you do not already need them or you still do?
@WillHatton
@WillHatton 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! I think you hit the nail on the head, it’s like a circle you need some audience to gain traction and you can use those figures to gain access to bigger platforms to continue your growth. I don’t think we’ll ever be in a place when you don’t need them, you’ll just generate more options in which you can appeal to newer audiences. Once you have a big enough audience, I think you can start taking risks and switching your sound up but in the early days it’s best to appeal to what that audience already enjoys!

Is a Chillwave type of track okay to be on lofi girl? Cuz I'm using pads in my tracks for a warm, soft and a vintage feeling. I'm making interesting tracks so that I could be a standout and be noticed easily by lofi girl. Cuz when I listen to my music and lofi girls music, my tracks are a whole lotta different with them
@WillHatton
@WillHatton 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! However, I think you already know the answer to this if it sounds completely different to LG’s tracks then probably not. But don’t be discouraged you could still DM them and then follow up with Chillwave playlist/channels/labels too - places to start: NewRetroWave, Oddyseus, Asthenic, Ryan Celsius. Best of luck

Will great video but I feel like the lofi scene is stale. Everyone is doing the same thing and nobody is pushing it. If anyone disagrees please comment with a link to an artist that is pushing it!
@WillHatton
@WillHatton 2 жыл бұрын
I hear you but I think of it like a genre that suits a purpose rather than a genre that pushes boundaries. If you think of Hip Hop, it’s ever changing, there are sub-genres an underground scene, the top tier rappers, your favourite producers etc. But Lofi exists because it fulfills the need of the listener, background noise, right? Have you ever listened to the ambient playlists on Spotify? It’s definitely a genre but it’s remained largely unchanged because it suits a purpose - pads & piano to send people to sleep, meditate or do yoga to!
@WillHatton
@WillHatton 2 жыл бұрын
That being said I think there are different types of Lofi and people pushing it, yes! Wun-Two is doing great jazzy stuff Idealism has strictly piano vibes Eevee has the hard hitting drums (and also produces different music for different artists) Dokkodo rocks unique string instruments. The list goes on with research. Something to also bare in mind… I put out a “Lofi song” today called “Yangqin” take a listen, I thought it was pushing the boundaries of Lofi and something different but it’s mostly getting turned down by larger playlists, why? Because it’s toooo different and doesn’t suit the purposes of Lofi! So also think about it from that perspective, you may not hear the tracks that are trying to do something different because they’re not getting picked up by the playlists who are after a particular sound! So - DIG DEEP MY FRIEND! 😂 Would love to hear your thoughts.

Great video man, but your notions right at the beginning of the video is what always trips me up. You basically have to be known before you’re known. And obviously there’s some sense to that, but on the other hand lofi girl has 10 million subscribers now. At this point they should be on the look out for new artists regardless. The reason some are so small is because they can’t get on a playlist, because everyone who has a popular playlist/channel thinks exactly like that. Even these indie labels think too much like Hollywood now. We need to return to giving unknowns a chance based on their music alone, otherwise how will they be heard? Any starving artist understands that viewpoint. Establishing an online presence is hard without a hand up. Back in the day when lofi girl was still growing, that notion makes sense, but currently they’ve got a gargantuan following and can afford to take more chances I think. There shouldn’t be hoops to jump through. There’s nothing wrong with letting someone have one track on a playlist. Just my two cents.
