Thanks for turning me on to Burg & Schild. I was able to visit them in Berlin recently. The staff there were so helpful in helping me select the perfect pair of heavy weight denim and hem length. They then did a one day turn around hemming service allowing me to continue with my trip without delay. Awesome people and products there at Burg & Schild.

i got my first paid of selvedge denim about 2 weeks ago, N&F Weird Guy and honestly, I wish they were about one inch longer. I was able to do one turn up but it kind of slips up and down so ideally, I would have liked another inch of material to lock in the cuff by doing a double turn up.

I'm a new denim head myself and just as appreciative of the work and tutorials presented by CRD. I've got 3 new pair of raw jeans I bought prior to losing 40lbs, so now they all need to be tailored. What questions or directions should I ask or give to a tailor? There are no raw denim shops in the area, so my options are dry cleaner tailors, wedding shops, or haberdashery. Any input would be helpful as I am still learning. -Later

Is it important to get the hem chain stitched to maintain the original look? Is it difficult to match the thread with the rest of the jean?

Hey man, great Videos I’m learning a lot. Quick question, I’m just getting into selvedge jeans. I have a couple of pairs that are just a little to big. I haven’t soaked or washed them yet. Do you think I should size down or will they shrink down after the first wash? I’m not to sure because I hear they will stretch as you wear them. Tough call because they are only a little to big. The jeans I’m talking about are Nudie Grim Tim
@soulkitchen19793 жыл бұрын
Look up to see if your jeans are sanforized or unsanforized. That makes a difference on how much they will shrink. If you choose to soak, use cold water and only soak for 30 minutes at a time. Let dry completely and try on. See if that helps.

What does it mean for jeans “overlocking”?
@ignus163 жыл бұрын
Its getting much harder these days to get jeans with a long inseam. I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam, so, in order to wear jeans with a stack or cuff they need to be 35" or more. Lots of brands used to do a 36" inseam but these are getting hard to find. Samurai, Fullcount and PBJ, which are some of the bigger names in the game, have all stopped doing 36" inseams in the last few years and The Flat Head are no longer sold in Europe. The industry seems to have settled in around 23-34" as a default and this is NOT a long inseam. Ironheart and TSG are the only two i can find that make quality jeans that i actually want to buy with a proper inseam. I bought about 4 pairs of Samurais before they switched over to only making jeans for short people last year :P Seriously though - have a look around at how many companies do proper long inseams and i think you'll be surprised what you find..

Depends on the shoe your wearing, for shoes (paraboot avignon) or loafers or sneakers you need shorter with no break, the ivy look. For a Chelsea boot or that need to be abit longer, like 1/4 break. Any they must be chain stitched, they dont look right with a regular stich,
@ValFinale2 жыл бұрын
agreed. some people into raw denim still like that sloppy horrible stacking look with extra material fraying from the jeans everywhere in all directions. Looks awful

As someone who’s 5’5, I have to either hem all jeans so that if I cuff it’s not like wearing 80s ankle weights or raw hem if I wanna look like a 70s porn star. Personally, I think the perfect length for jeans whether you cuff or not is right at the vamp of your boots with no break. I know flood length is super en vogue right now for IG pics, but I hate having to adjust when you sit and stand.
@CeeAreDee3 жыл бұрын
I think that just cause people want to flex on their socks. And fair enough. If you pay 50 bucks per pair. Flex away 😂

@@CeeAreDee if you pay $300 for jeans, it seems like a shame to give them cheap socks to hangout with 😂

True that... but the fancy socks are never long enough for me. I like either a sneaker sock or a looooonnnnggg sock, the kind thing that will keep me cosy even if I am rockin a "flood" length 😂
@ValFinale2 жыл бұрын
nah thats too long IMO. I'm also 5"5 but I like my jeans normal or a small cuff to end near the top of the boot but i also like more straight then skinny denim so don't deal with adjusting really. But ALL the jeans I’ve ever bought had to be cut. The problem with it is that if the original hem is like 18 or 19 cm, after getting cut the hem is like 21 or 22. That’s a real pain for me🤷🏼♂️

I have discovered the joys of a good tailor recently. Take them along to a guy you trust and have a long chat with them. They will be able to advise you and they will know exactly how to cut them for your body type.

@@CeeAreDee I know a couple of guys, but I’m afraid they are not gonna take anything heavier than 14Oz. But thanks for your advice!
@TonyByte Жыл бұрын
Oh, you meant because you removed the length, farther up the leg, the leg opening is wider when you hem there, not the hem. I see. You have to cut the length, then hem, then taper the legs to get the leg holes whatever size you want. It sounds hard but it is not. It is much easier than you think. I just did this to 7 pairs of shorts! All if my shorts were too long and leg holes too wide. A tailor can do this but I'm loving perfecting it myself. I recommend it. KZbin has all of the instructions.

@@CeeAreDee that can be said for anything. "eat that piece of cake", well that's easier said than done because 4-5 word sentences are easier to say than spending 2 minutes eating a piece of cake. So I'm not sure what your point is. He buys a second machine, and then he has parts. End of story. Otherwise he can keep complaining about it breaking all the time, or just get rid of it. Apparently it isn't necessary to own if its always broken. Maybe sell it and buy a new machine made by a company that is still around instead of going vintage/steampunk. He is paying for the space that the machine takes up in his workspace, so it would seem to be better to replace it with something that works. If someone's car is always broken it isn't very cool either.
