I travel a lot for work and frequently stay at a Hampton Inn in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Recently, this Hampton updated their network and changed their Wi-Fi (wifi) log-in process. This broke all the typical tricks to get a PS5 on a hotel Wi-Fi the "correct" way (authenticate via PS5 Wi-Fi on phone, trick PS5 into showing log-in screen by accessing a user manual or the network status, etc.) so I had to find a work-around.
Initially, I just tethered my PS5 to my AT&T mobile hotspot and that worked fine... for gaming, even hours of Call of Duty only took a few hundred megabytes of data and the speeds were ok... 60mbps and around 50-75ms ping. BUT, for watching Hulu, Netflix, or any other streaming video, it takes a lot more data and over a week can take up most of my 40gb hot spot allowance.
SO... I searched for another way that relies on the hotel Wi-Fi and not my phone. I settled on using a Windows 11 Wi-Fi Hotspot through my laptop. In simplest terms, just connect your Windows 11 (or 10) device on the Hampton Inn Wi-Fi using the normal process. Then the PS5 to the laptop hotspot and voila! This video gives the step-by-step.
