Assalamu alaykum. Reciting Ayatul Kursi before stepping out of the house is not a sunnah, it’s an innovation (bidah). It is not supported by authentic Hadith. Don’t worry, the other two things you said are fine: It is correct and supported by Hadith to recite ayatul Kursi after every fardh salah and to recite it before bed. The reason I am being serious about innovation is because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was against innovation within the religion Hadiths on innovation below: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say, when beginning a khutbah (sermon): " The best of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of things are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is a going astray" (reported by Muslim, no. 867) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that whoever innovates something new in the deen (religion) will have his deed rejected, and Allaah will not accept it, as is stated in the hadeeth narrated by 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), who said: "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: 'Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours that is not a part of it will have it rejected.'" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath al-Baari, no. 2697).

Assalamualaikum. Surely the best dawah we can give to non-Muslims is to have GOOD CHARACTER. The Prophet (saw) said the heaviest deed on the scale on the Day of Judgement will be that of having GOOD CHARACTER. It makes sense, I mean u make friends with a non-Muslim and they see how you don't use dirty language, don't lie, have good manners, respect parents & elders (how we Muslims should be acting anyway) etc. That itself is enough to show non-Muslims what a beautiful religion Islam truly is.

a simple metaphor to explain why, even if you still do bad things, you should still do and spread the good things: imagine a container filled with say, ink. every day you pour water into it. eventually, there is so much water in it, that it overflows and eventually, the ink overflows with it and is removed from the container. the ink is the bad thing, the water is the good thing. by pouring water (doing good), at least you are filling the container (yourself) with goodness.

why the term convert is more appropriate is because, well, we're not Muslims to begin with, we're muslims to begin with at birth. notice the capital M and the small m? it means we're born with the fitrah of submitting to the will of God-- but not necessarily a Muslim with a big M. Yasir Qadhi said this in his lecture. the hadith says that upon birth, we're muslims (with the small m), then their our parents make us Christians, Jews or something. so to make us a Muslim with the capital M, a conversion process is required. a shahadah.

if you do not pour any water into the container, then the container is left stained with the ink and there’s no way you can get rid of it. at least by doing good, you are trying to cancel out the bad. even if you do a little bit of good, at least it dilutes the ink and makes it easier to get rid of. the more good you do, eventually, the good will exceed the bad, getting rid of the ink and you’ll just be left with the good stuff :) i hope that’s clear and easy to understand :-)
