I just got my hands on a scale modeler magazine from late 2021 and you have an article on a mech build that was really interesting. It was funny because I read the whole thing in your voice! It was like I could hear you narrating it and I couldn’t help but keep smiling throughout the read.

This weekend I started painting an orc set for D&D with things you show on your canal, and the efects rock! ^^ Drybrush basecoat, and glazes for other parts did a great job, I'm after the wash, and tomorrow I will do higligshts with glazes :D The things you show here are 200% useful for home painting. Thank you for all your wok!

D&D! Me and my kids love playing D&D the most! For the highlights, add less medium and sketch the highlights, then you may soften the edges of the initial highlights with glazes ( 3 parts water or glaze medium and 1 part paint ). Cheers! Thanks for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

It was great showing all the steps, even if its just a shorter clip. That way you don't miss out on anything. Not boring at all, interesting and good rather! I've been frustrated with glazing and so far only tried it with water. I will definitely be trying with glaze medium
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
So was I! I was sooo frustrated with glazing with water last year. Then I realized, what if I use mediums. Mediums were formulated and used by fine artists for a reason. Tada, I think I paint better now. I am definitely no longer frustrated. So much easier to glaze or paint when using mediums. ☺️

I’m very happy with the length of this video as it provides more details and insights about your painting process and techniques. I think I’ve learned a lot If you have not done it already, it would be nice to have a video where you explain your techniques for painting eyes on various scales. I was impressed by the look of the eyes on this mini!

@@DonSuratos totally understand, bro. No problem. Your results are very good, so your techniques work! Eyes are so difficult for me to paint. Any tips besides a very steady hand 😂?

@@DonSuratos trust me they aren’t. I’ve had mad issues trying to use water. Time and time again and it wouldn’t work for me. I got a few different mediums from the only hobby shop in this state that carries artist grade paints for miniatures. I’ve been using them with the different techniques and they r actually clicking. Like seriously if u ever have any classes or a mentorship program imma jump on it in a hot sec cause I want to keep improving.

@@tonyr2006 Totally agree with the water. Watered down acrylics is such a waste of time in my opinion. So difficult to control and thinning is so unpredictable. Oh I do not have classes, but will put up Patreon videos soon. ☺️

Can you tell me what method you use to shake your paints, please? Mine don’t seem to flow from the bottles like yours do. I use Vallejo Model Color mainly.
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
Model Colors usually need no shaking. They are very creamy in general. I do shake my paints at least once a month though. You may need to stir the paints if unused for very long time. Cheers. ☺️

How You doing drybrush that is not chalky?
@DonSuratos2 жыл бұрын
It is still chalky bro. Not as much as I do not unload paints too much. But still chalky / dusty looking. ☺️
@RuffStuff4202 жыл бұрын
Drybrushing and not getting the chalkiness is actually really easy. Get a small sponge in it's own little container with enough water to keep the top a little moist. Wipe the paint off like you normally would. You do this to get rid of most of the pigment, but it also gets rid of most of the moisture, this is what creates the chalkyness. Once you get the paint off to how you like it dab the brush right into that wet sponge, wick it off a little bit, and then start the drybrushing. Now that you have reintroduced moisture, but not pigment, you will not get that chalky effect. It take a little practice to get it right, but just keep making it wetter until you find that breakpoint where you get a nice coverage with no chalkiness.
