Usually the easiest way to get the shock shaft out is just to take the bottom eye off and then slide the shock shaft up through the top. Also that steel washer is reinforcement for the piston. If that washer wasn't there the force of impact would end up pushing the piston over the little rimit sits on and down onto the shaft

I know this has been a few years old but my concern is the shock shafts on the Amazon shocks. If those bend as well, I will go with the Traxxas brand instead. Sometimes cheaper is not better when it comes to things like shocks. I snapped a shaft on my Rustler right after installing the Traxxas big bore after hitting a small tree. That was on me. A quick trip to the hobby shop and I got a new shock shaft. Being those come with minimum shock oil really concerns me as well. At this point, I have talked myself out of the Amazon shocks. They may be cheap enough, but no replacement parts makes me think I should pass on those. Good video however.

They appear to be rc4wd shocks, recently got a set for my bandit. The top caps were extremely tight for me also so i had to use another collar like a jam nut so i could turn the other to open the cap. You also dont have to take the nut off the piston its easiear to take the bottom mount off and slide the shaft up out of the top.

@ISLpictures

@@RCKnockout so I bought gtr shocks all around. The backs are longer than the front. The trouble I ran into was the front clearance was low. I ended up ordering Gtr rears for the front. I bought a set of big bores as well, except the Traxxas brand ones. Also got some shafts with the titanium coating to put in the original ones to have as spares. That's crazy where yours bent, mine bent much higher on the shaft such that the shock wouldn't decompress right. I bent it straight again, but once those things bend once, they keep getting bent. The titanium coated ones are supposed to be much stronger. Still haven't done the fuel line hack, but I probably will at the same time I install the big bores.
