I have always had a tendency to eat more than I need or emotional eat, sometimes eating much more than I need. I'm fairly active and I like how I look so for most of my life it has not been an issue. Now since I've had kids I have IBS and Rheumatoid arthritis (seriously think it was triggered by pregnancy!) and I have found that overeating really triggers my symptoms for some reason. The IBS and/or RA have also completely obliterated my hunger signals, instead I feel full more often than not, so that does not help. Now I have been using calorie counting to keep from overeating, which I don't really hate but sometimes it's inconvenient, but every time I try to wean off the calorie counting I slowly start overeating again (and have more pain again), so I've been calorie counting off and on for about 4 years now. It's been pretty annoying but I usually feel like I can't use most people's suggestions because I don't feel like they apply to my situation. However, I really like the suggestion of logging how I feel instead of logging the food, I think that might be helpful thanks!

Lucie, any chance you can get your mom to do a video on how she cultivated your eating habits when you guys were babies/little kids? I see a lot of books about how French moms develop their kids taste buds at a young age much more than American parents.

This is what I’m practicing. This morning I needed protein for breakfast but didn’t have meat or eggs. So I looked for other forms and found yogurt and milk. I also added an apple, a little bit of granola and homemade banana bread. I needed to be a bit carb heavy because I’m nearing my cycle and I needed to stay full for several hours. It seems to be working!

LOOOOOVE this video and your approach to food. I'm SO OVER all this obsession with counting/weighing/measuring. Of course, be informed but all this other stuff is so extreme.

Hi Lucie, what would you recommend for someone who has to lose weight for health reasons? Can intuitive eating still be done under these circumstances? Love your videos and your approach to food and nutrition in general 🥰

I can't eat if I hear to my body. I have to eat when I'm sceduled for a break. How does it work if you are a working person?

Some labels have so many ingredients listed i don't even know what they are. I like the whole foods and spices i know. It does work to eat intuitively. If i am ful, i stop eating. I pretty much know the amount of food i can finish based on hunger, so i can judge how much to put on my plate. That way i'm not overeating, but satisfied. Is this an ok way to do?

Hello! I have lost my weight. Would love to shift to not counting calories but don't want to gain weight. Thank you!

I keep trying to move over from counting calories to intuitive eating. My problem is I have thyroid disease and a stomach hernia. I don't get a hungry signal until I feel weak, faint and starving. 😢

For people who have a very long history of tracking macros, do you think the tracking part can itself become "intuitive" in a sense? For me, I don't actually consciously track my macros, but because my brain has been trained to know the macros by just looking at tge plate, it still happens in the back of my head.

What about people who need to watch their blood sugar? I feel like knowing how much carbs, protein, and fiber you’re eating is super important. I would like to do intuitive eating, but I’m not sure that is compatible with watching one’s blood sugar at the same time… And there absolutely are foods that people at risk for Diabetes should be avoiding.
