I don’t know what I would do without your channel. I’ve always bought secondhand tyres, but very recently I bought brand new tyres that I haven’t used yet, so I was wondering about all the things you’ve just mentioned. So, THANK A LOT!!!

Hi there so i just have a quick question on rear tyre wear. My front tyres seem to wear really good and uniform but my rears particularly my left rear wear the inside quite aggressively. What is the reason for this? In general the kart is on the oversteer side. Thanks from Portugal
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 3 жыл бұрын
hey sam, does it do it with brand new tyres too? maybe bring the tyre pressures up until it goes away. also too try changing the type of rear rim you are using to a MXC or alloy wheel

@@PowerRepublic hi thanks for the response yeah it does it on new tyres for sure. It’s a Crg senior max on mojo d5. The pressure hot are at 11 psi. What effect will the material of the rim have on wear?

Pls explain to us the difference of a soft tyre wall and a hard one and what must be the difference of pressure betwen them base on the same compound . Thank you
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 жыл бұрын
the compound is normally part of the design of the tyre. soft wall will be a little more sensitive to tyre pressures changes in a smaller window i.e 1psi range , where as a harder wall tyre can have a bigger psi range 2-4psi and is more forgiving IMO

Hey! I have a question. How Long is the lifespan for un-used tires? I have a set still in packaging, but they are years old, not sure how many. Are they still Worth using? 🏁 Its Dunlop DCH
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 жыл бұрын
I reckon they will still hold air, but damn they would be hard and slippery. I mean if you're not racing and don't care except for some fun, then they will be fine. otherwise just chuck em out and grab ya self a new set

As a Onewheel rider, I find it amusing trying to increase the longevity of a tire by altering the camber as the tire ages. If I did that, it would take me a year, just to get half a carve in. :)
@waltjake1
@waltjake1 11 ай бұрын
He said wear on the sides from changing the camber makes the steering less agressive in and out of corners. Nothing about longevity. In other words riding on the side edges of the tire makes the contact area narrower so they will turn easier. On a onewheel it means its less stable in a straight line. My onewheel tire has 1100 miles on it and the sides are so worn down that theres almost no flat spot in the contact area, the profile is round- apparently I need a new tire.
@TheAnimeist
@TheAnimeist 11 ай бұрын
@@waltjake1 The Vega slick that came on my Pint lasted almost exactly 2000 miles. I always rode with high pressure (22 lbs). The tire ended up having a large crown, with a concave shape near the edge of the contact area. I do a lot of carving, I suspect that's why it wore like that. Very freaky looking when the pressure is dropped. Ended up getting the TFL XtraRAD slick. A nice tire, but really no better than the Vega. Super hard to break the bead on too. I now also have a GT with the OEM treaded tire. Way harder to carve, so the Pint still remains enjoyable. Float on my friend.

Power Republic we used Dunlop and Bridgestone some years ago, but the Le Cont tires are so much softer. But it’s wierd, because the laptimes on the bridgestone and Le Cont tires are almost the same, but with Bridgestone we used two sets every year, and with Le Cont we use one set every month, but for the same price! So everyone wants the old tires back...

Is there any better benefits of using nitrogen in go kart tires than using normal air?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 жыл бұрын
Not really allowed here in aus. But there is less moisture in pure nitrogen I believe. I guess that moisture can expand more with heat. But I’m not 100% on that.

What surface temp should a new set be running at after a race? We where running set we just couldn’t gain good grip with and the surface temp was only 40-42 deg C on the out grid. Others where as high as 70 deg C. Does this mean ours are just too old even though it appears they have a good volume of rubber left on them?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 4 жыл бұрын
Great question. I don’t actually know that as we haven’t used Tyre temp readings in ages. But if your tyres are old, change them and then start all your data collection from there.

@PowerRepublic

Yeah in some instances yes. But it also makes the tyres slightly harder or softer. Play around with a +/- 1 Psi from the ‘normal’ start position and see what works for your chassis/Tyre combination
