@@butterbun7033 my grandparents had a bird. It was not a parrot. I can't remember what species he was but I can remember his name. His name was Kiki. Kiki was a lovely bird and had a strong bond with my grandfather. After my grandfather sadly (and finally - he had so much pain and didn't look like him anymore) died due to cancer 15 years ago, Kiki became very depressed and aggressive. He started to attack my grandmother around 5 months after my grandfather passed away. My family decided to buy him a girlfriend. It was a terrible idea. Her name was Koko, and she copied Kiki's behaviour and the end of the story was that my grandmother sold both birds cause they attacked everyone and destroyed everything.

Not always. They are extremely smart so they'll figure out that you figured them out and change their behavior to confuse you and get what they want. They also tend to learn to go about it so sneakily that you don't figure out that they know that you know, which puts the parrot in the top spot. Which is also why African Greys are often abused; people can't fathom or understand how smart they are thus enabling it to get away with anything it wants, which is often whatever gets the most reaction out of the person such as biting and screaming. Even my own Greys regularly keep surprising me with how smart they are while I am an expert on parrot behavior and have known them for over 15 years! (Edit: typo)

ForestofTooMuchFood Lmao first of all, who said I was getting a parrot for the sole purpose of making it my ring bearer?! I only said that I wanted to have one as my ring bearer. I'm sure there's plenty of organizations or parrot owners with trained parrots that would let me borrow one. Plus, how do you know that I wasn't getting a parrot anyway? Maybe Ive always wanted a parrot and was planning to get one anyway. Not just for a wedding. But even if I for whatever reason did want to go through the hassle of buying a $1,000 parrot then bonding and training it to hold and hand me things on command just for a wedding, as long as I do my research and provide with a good life,it doesn't matter. It's still being given a good life just like any other animal owned by a good pet owner.

Whenever you see her plucking her feathers giver her one of her toys to play with, so instead of plucking her feathers she will play with her toy for entertainment. Also, try to make sure she is occupied doing something not just sitting there because that will cause her to start playing with her feathers.
