You are beautiful, smart, and a warm spirited woman with gorgeous hair! Many thanks. I've already started incorporating your recommendations and I already notice a difference! .... I have low porosity hair and love using heavy butters. I use a sulfate free clarifying shampoo twice but go a step further. I shampoo my hair in warm to hot water which opens cuticles and allows shampoo to remove dirt & butters. Next I put on my conditioner and rinse it off with cool water which will help starts the process of sealing in moisture and my hair is not frizzy. Once I started doing this my hair thrived no matter products I used.
@mayaarroyoburton90275 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing and I realize such a difference... The only thing I'm concerned about is the cool water rinse... Since I have low porosity hair, wouldn't it seal the hair cuticles to the point where leaves in and styling products won't absorb into it?

Girl, you are giving me life! I just found out about you and of course, I had to subscribe. Have watched quite a few episodes and going back through to take some notes. Understanding this porosity thing has freed me to be willing to start my hair growth journey again. I have been natural for 15 years but I would never let it get "long" because of how it felt and would be unruly because of the dryness. I was considering "Sisterlocs" for the past month or so. But I think I am going to give this method a try instead. I am looking forward to trying the cassia since my hair is naturally jet black instead of the henna, and letting my curls live again. Thanks for sharing! Oh yeah, glycerin is my jam!

Hello Curly, I was apart of the Belle Bar community and LOVED every minute of it. This where I made my mistake... I was trying to use the kit while under sooo much stress, damage hair, family members passing away and the focus was not there. I stepped away from it and regroup and started over. I did the big chop, cut all the damage hair off (professional done, 2 1/2 inch long). Since the cut, the product from Belle Bar is working wonders for me, and my hair is easier to manage. I’m praying for great result. Thanks Curly and the Belle Bar team for your product and support.

Great video that's very informative. I have 4c hair and it loves moisture...natural since 2003. The problem with my hair (I don't know if anyone else has experienced this), is that my hair doesn't like oils of any kind light or heavy when damp or wet. It tends to make my hair shed, and I know this is really weird so I don't even know if it's sealed or whatever. My hair is not happy if I don't let water hit it every other day, else it will become very dry and knotted, and yes we use a shower filter,

As someone W/HIGH POROSITY hair i don't agree about the leave ins & the aloe vera. When you wash & cond./deep condition your hair you can seal your cuticle right away when you rinse out your conditioner by using a cold water or cold apple cider vinegar rinse (best results). WHEN YOU RINSE YOUR HAIR ITS ALREADY FULL OF THE MOISTURIZE OTHERS ARE STILL TRYING TO GET. Open cuticles are a tangling nightmare to high porosity hair, the sooner u seal,the better. Focus on sealing the cuticle to retain moisture as long as it can (usually up to 2 days max). The challenge with high porosity hair is not allowing cuticles to dry in the raised position 1)easily knots & matts as the open cuticles lock onto nearby follicles & 2)releases moisture even faster. When it comes to moisturize & seal, favor one heavy cream or whip with humectants over their watery sprays conterparts. A DIY coconut oil, aloe vera & detangler whipped together would weigh the cuticle down allowing just enough rise to moisturize🤔
@kimoni68 жыл бұрын
Aloe Vera juice does help to close it. some people are allergic to AV and it days some people hair out. I believe if the mix it with vegetable glycerin and water it helps a great deal and not to use to much AV in the mix.

I just started the gro-aut system along with the MSM (I have the powder because I it is a part of my supplement routine) to grow my hair longer, but I need a better regimen for getting my hair softer. I have been natural for several years, but my hair has become dry and brittle for the last few years and it sheds and breaks (fairy knots even though I don't use heat or wear it down). Help!!

First time in my life I can maintain a twist out for 2-3 weeks...first time I can wear a wash n go and my hair root to tip is consistent in curl pattern....I dont know if its because my hair is very similar to hers in texture...but if you have coarse hair with a coily curl pattern and your hair is super dense and thick...listen to herrrr! lol...

for twist outs...i leave spritz my hair with water, add shea butter to my ends and flat twist into two twists at night (or for the gym...leave my hair twisted til its dry)...also...I have a really good hair cut...i dont keep dead ends, and I think having my hair all one texture/curl pattern has really helped the longevity of my styles...also I only twist dry/damp hair...wet twist outs make my hair tangled. As far as videos...her videos about henna, deep conditioners, and indian hair products are the ones that I have incorporated into my routine.

Hi Curly Proverbz, I did the hair in the glass test to see if I have high medium or low porosity. My hair is natural and when I put my hair in because of the curlness the strand of hair was on the top and underneath the water. So what does that mean. My hair is always dry, even absorbs gel! I am going to try your low porosity products and will let you know how it works out.

I have low porosity hair, and just realized that I have this porosity for sure by watching SunKissAlba's porosity maintenance video she uploaded back in February. Before then, I knew there was a possibility that my hair was low porosity even though hair stylists had told me that my hair was normal porosity. I have been putting notes in my phone about my natural hair since 2014, so that helped a lot. I always clarify my hair since I have wash day every 2 weeks, and tried a cleansing conditioner last year for 5 months, but it didn't work. So I went back to using the clarifying sulfate-free shampoo that my hair loves which is SheaMoisture African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I deep condition under a hooded dryer every wash day. The styling products I use have hydrolyzed protein and wheat protein in them. The SheaMoisture masque I use has hydrolyzed protein it in. The LCO method has been a huge help to me since May 2013 shortly after I chopped off my heat damaged back that same month.

your videos are so informative! I just did a big a chop and I have low porosity hair and I hate it! This is my second big chop and this time I am just digging for the right information to really take Care of my hair and hopefully see a little growth this time. For the longest I could never figure out what was wrong with my hair... and now I know and I'm definitely going to try a few things on my hair so I can get a good regimen going! keep it up I love your videos!

my hair is highly porous and I only use coconut oil as a pre poo or mixed with other oils (castor oil, olive oil and some essential oils) on its own it feels like straw even with the loc method.....but shea butter is my love! I use the products from uncle funky's daughter n seal with shea butter or the mane choice butter.....great video!

Thanks love and yes... Shea butter is KING for my hair even though I am low porosity. In the winter time nothing matches it.
