Just yesterday I was reading an article how we already as children are raised in this victim mindset, thinking that we cannot control our own life or what happens around us. We see our parents and other people in hopeless situations complaining a lot and we adopt this mindset. This way we see the world and problems as something we have no control over and we give responsibility for our lives to others. If we cannot do anything, if we are not in charge, how can we find motivation? I think it is crucial to always learn and remember that we are the ones who are responsible. And even if things are sometimes out of our control, it is still our choice if we want to see it as something positive or negative, to react or not.

motivation is unstable. It's good to have it but we should not rely on it. I experience motivationboosts and i start producing videos like a mad man, but the key to success is doing the work even when you are not motivated.

This is an amazing video. Over a decade ago I had a pretty bad motorcycle accident. After I got tested for brain bleeding. I remembered that they said I had no brain bleeding. At least no severe bleeding! Since then I've struggled with making decisions to the point where I feel better making none at all.

Choices remind us that we are in control and that increases our motivation. This is gold (added to my collection) 😄 Super high quality video! I always knew that giving little kids choices is great to let them feel in control but I didn’t even think it can increase motivation (even with adults). Super useful thanks for sharing. Mindblow😲

A sense of control is KEY in happiness and motivation. Do so many people lose motivation because they feel what they are doing does not matter? Doing meaningful work or focusing on HOW your work is benefiting others definitely helps in reaching long-term goals! Fascinating topic :)

Amazing video, as always. I totally agree with the importance of being able to choose. Throughout my life my parents have always given me the choice to do whatever I want. The result was that other kids whose parents imposed them strict rules turned out reckless while I am an outstanding student who doesn't drink, smoke or eat processed food. (Not saying that those are bad just that being able to choose gives better results than trying to impose rules). Also not being able to choose creates anxiety and it is proven that learned helplessness is a risk factor for cancer!

I think he refers to that plane crash, where everything looked good except that they were loosing altitude fast. They tried to compensate by pulling the nose up, but that caused them to lose their draft. In the end they pulled the nose up until they dropped the plane with their rear first. AFAIK, all that was really wrong with the plane was a frozen pressure meter... A quick glance to their globe would have told them to pull the nose down....

I've got a question with playing out conversations before they happen. I've heard that thinking about a conversation even before it takes places can be bad and produce negativity within a person but here you say that it's actually good??? What's actually right in this case?

Locus of control is a bit different. Basically there is External vs. Internal. If you externalize your choices and behaviour (example: You made me mad) you live a life of blame and cannot do anything. Everything that happens is because of others. Internalizing (I was mad) is living a life of responsibility (internal). If you understand that you are responsible, you will start becoming motivated as it is empowering--you can choose your life rather than being subject to the choices of others..

Seems to me that you should have a better goal than 10 million subscribers. The goal doesn’t align directly with your purpose. With he goal of 10 million, it means that you may sacrifice you purpose to reach your goal. The goal should be tied to your purpose or you jeopardize your future. Rethink your goal.

I think your videos have a lot of great content in them, but can you please evolve your channel. You could go so much further if you just improved the quality of your videos. Different/higher quality whitebard videos and a higher quality mic would help. Also the annoying royalty free music is annoying and turns me off from watching your videos.

actually I think I was listening on a bad speaker at the time, the mic isn't really all that bad. In my opinion these whiteboard videos look like something you buy on fiverr or something, i see it all over the place and it is repetitive in my eyes. I do highly recommend changing the music though, maybe something more motivational or something but dear god anything but this reptitive royalty free music.
