Superb advice guys! In times when our beloved sport is coming under scrutiny from many angles, it's upto us to do our best to take great care of both our environment and our fish too! Care for our catch, leave the place as you find it (or cleaner in some cases) and we can continue to enjoy everything that we all love! 👍👍😎🎣

This is Just as important as actually hooking the fish. A lot of the time the fish can randomly go crazy and flop on the ground and that's why the mat is really important. Great work lads! Loved the video!

Useful stuff! I learned fishing from my grandpa who took nearly every fish we ever caught home to eat (including carp, tench, etc., even illegally... although here in the Netherlands you can keep virtually anything you catch, with some restrictions... and he poached with set-lines and stuff), so fish care was not among the things he taught me. He often kept them alive in a plastic bag until we got home, to make sure they stayed fresh. I also had to unlearn guthooking fish and using the heaviest tackle possible... because that's what he taught me as well, since making sure to catch a fish was far more important than its safety. I'm glad I'm no longer like that. That's also what rekindled my passion for fishing: learning new, better methods and treating fish with respect, instead of the primitive "keeping everything we catch" approach.

@@donalddarko3676 Absolutely! I rarely ever keep fish. The only thing I would occasionally keep if I would manage to catch some on a water where I know there are plenty would be big perch and zander... Luckily I almost never fish with lures or cut bait, so chances of that happening are slim :)

Same, so few articles or forum posts surrounding it. Was prompted to do so as it was always heartbreaking seeing fish with previous angling injuries or preventable infections, even more so on our waterways that are increasingly inhospitable to our native fish species.

Hi Alex and Carl. One question in regards to this topic that I would like to know. What is considered a "safe" time to have the fish out of the water. I'm asking because in my country carp fishing has gain a lot of popularity but lake owners where there are bigger cars tend to over rush people to place the fish back in the water. I've had one account that after 20 seconds I was forced to put it back, I didnt event had time to take a proper picture.

@@fishingtutorials @Fishing Tutorials alright guys. So, I was wandering around Lidl and I saw in the middle of Lidl (the 'when it's gone, it's gone' section) some popper lures. Now, I do like spin fishing, and I thought that maybe there were some areas I could improve on, so, it'd mean an awful lot to me if you could do a guide on spinning with a small section about types of lure and what they're for. Thx guys, have a nice week :)

I just place them back on the mat and gently hold them down with both hands for a minute. You can also lean over them as you do this but don't know if that scares them into being still or just feels natural to me! lol. When picking them up for a photo, I've always held them one hand under tha anal fin and the other under it's chin?...with the 1st 2 joints of my forefinger in it's mouth. Works for me!

Can you make something on how to land a carp on your own?
@danosverige
@danosverige 3 жыл бұрын
Keep your landing net close. Reel the fish in until it's about the length of your rod away, with your non-dominant hand slide the net into the water and lift your rod. Try to slide the fish over the nets rim and in rather than pushing the net towards the fish, which will scare it.
