I didn't mean anything bad woth my comment btw, but gradual intensity is key for long term success in human health and to minimise risk of injury. I wish good luck to everyone, i love practicing my handstand and being able to hold a straight HS stable for a minute feels great.

@@hunlevistube No hard feelings my friend, well I have assumed on base of my experience that pull ups are much harder. However I shouldn't use term "sure" as pulling and pushing power are not fully "related". I can do 30 pushups but only 10 pull ups from dead hang.

@@ohno6955 Almost 71 now recently diagnosed with end stage heart failure - but do my handstands against the wall every week. Can’t do one away from a wall but that’s ok cause I have bigger issues to contend with now . But I am much stronger and easily walk on my hands away from and back to the wall . I’m still lifting heavy 4x a week so that surely all helps - I’ll keep on until I’m too sick to do otherwise.👍👍

One little tip that worked for me: when you look at the ground when standing upside down, try to keep your head as straight as possible (aligned with your body) while looking at the ground between your hands. For me it was hard to tell how straight my back and hips were when doing my handstand or how to fix that. By just doing this, it forced my back to also straighten. Good luck to everyone attempting the handstand. Great vid!

Hey man, really really great tutorial. I have a gymnastics background and even gymnastics couches sometimes forget how important shoulder mobility is. I found myself often asking myself: "Is he going to adress this and that as well??" You always did! Covered all bases. I may still have a mini mini tip for the more advanced stuff you tried later in the video. If you start doing things like press to handstands from a pseudo-planche position: try actively pressing your feet and knees together. Gymnasts not only to do that to avoid deductions but the added tension makes moving your legs in the air much easier as more force you put in gets to the desired joint. Keep doing what you are doing. Great video!

Josh, LOVE LOVE your video. I'm 2 yrs into my handstand journey and it is slow, but coming along. I am a senior citizen, but since retirement, I have devoted myself to flexibility and strength! Therefore your videos are exactly what I want and need. I have hit 28 seconds in my HS hold, although I am sorry to say the consistency is still not there in my kick up. I am improving and opening the shoulders but my line is not yet where I want it to be. It's like once I hit the spot I feel I can hold it, but I am only 20% successful in hitting that spot! I admire your strength and flexibility! You are my hero and so good at explaining the how and why! Thanks for your help in my journey!

28 seconds is incredible and inspiring. I'm happy I can be of any help in your journey :) The straight line can get a little fickle at times... don't let it get you too stressed. A handstand is a handstand no matter how straight!

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST approach that I have seen to achieve the handstand and I’ve seen quite a few. I’ve never been successful with the handstand and it makes sense with my tight shoulders and the fact that I’ve skipped right to attempting the handstand against the wall, chest facing away from the wall.

wow, just realized that I've been doing handstands for probably 16 years. I remember starting out with my older brother on the lawn learning how to twist out instead of falling and trying to get a 2-second stand. Then in high school I broke my leg twice doing dumb shiz like parkour and downhill mountain biking - so anyways, I had a lot of time on my hands and that's when I got my first 8-second hold. I remember it clearly, that's when I knew I could do a good handstand. Quickly progressing to 45 seconds but maxing out there. Getting to today, as someone who can hold a stand for over a minute, this routine is still beneficial for me since I've been struggling with wrist and shoulder injuries over the last three years (thanks to skating- damn) and need to encourage as much strength in those critical areas. Also, rebuilding the foundation of my handstand is necessary to move to an advanced level where I can do maneuvers like 'crow to handstand' or handstand pushups. Really keen for the intermediate level routine. Also, I'm wearing more protective gear these days.

Falling should be part of the beginner stages of this video. I highly recommend adding in a "what to do when you fall while in a handstand" and how to counter/cousin the fall. Not everyone can manipulate or hold these advanced positions even with some strength or mobility. All in all, great video I like the information mentioned to help progress through a handstand

Josh, this is fantastic but we need the tip #4. :) I believe that the main mental block if the fear of falling down and getting injured. Oh, and thank you for all your posts!

I started with crow, then tripod headtstand with hands, and then with forearms. I am not great at them but I can do them without a wall, so it is a great achievement for me. So I am now on handstands and this video is very good. Warm up, initial tips and a bit of progress. Thank you for this. I am now practising every day after my workout, when I am warm and stretchy, and I am at the later stage of this video, doing the handstand with the wall behind me. I am definitely going to try with the wall in front of me and see how I get on. I was working on holding it for as long as possible. I have a bad shoulder, but can still do it, so I am happy. If there is a progression from this one in the future, I'll be happy to watch it and try. By then, I probably have nailed this part 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Thank you for the video and advice.

Chest Facing Wall technique was a game changer after trying the back to the wall technique multiple times over the years (or just not committed enough). It's far easier to build up strength, endurance and become acclimated to the inverted position, which provides a clear line of sight for progression with time and effort. Entertained by the end video practice; your neighbors must love you.

Hey man, hope u doing well. I found your channel a few weeks ago.It is really helpful and the main idea I got watching your videos is that fitness is not a 3-4 month exercise or getting leaner too fast rather it is a lifestyle..so,thank u and keep going.

Please make a video on how to achieve our first chin up or pull up, and then how to increase the numbers with time. It would be of great help.

54 and suffered shattered radius and fractured ulna on XMAS. SO FRUSTRATING trying to get back to square 1….ie what I could do BEFORE the accident. Handstands and yoga arm balances seem out of reach, hopefully not permanently. I had a second surgery to remove the plate and 9 screws (YES, titanium is never 100% titanium so can cause reactions as was my case. Swelling and pain were terrible 4 months post initial surgery). Best advice, never break a bone, especially when you are older. Often the beginning of the end
