Man. you are great. Love the videos. I own RK FLHRC 2002. Your tips help a lot. Just yesterday I fixed the inner shifter. It was not as loose as yours but still sooner or later I could expect same problems. the only problem I had was my cutting wheel is too thick - and I used a sand paper to take off at least some of the gap. but probably once I buy the proper cutting wheel will go through the exercise again to make sure the shifters will not ware off. Thanks a milion again for your work

Rocco, you’re an awesome mechanic, man 👍🏻 Real engineer. Technicians at dealerships have really simple job nowadays, they just change parts, not repair them. You’re showing us there is always a better solution. Real mechanic should be able to repair things not only to change parts. Of course some things have to be changed, I understand that. Good job, man and thank you 👍🏻

Same nightmare on the transmission shift arm! This should work there as well. I love how there is not enough clearance behind the inner primary to remove the worn shifter on 06 and older models. Remove the entire drive system to change a 15 dollar shift arm?! Never again...I clearances the inner primary with a dremel for the next time! Thanks Harley....

Good question! At that point it is not bolted on the motor. So it can fly off the intake when you try to start. I do this as a test start to make sure no gas leaks. Your air breather plate mount keep your carburetor in place.

Awesome fix. But as far as quality of the steal on the shifter, yeah harley probably does do alot to get you to buy new parts or bikes. But it's actually genius design flaw. Making the shifter out of worse metal will wear it out faster but will keep you from tearing up the shaft which is not as easy of a fix and something your average rider can't do on the side of the road
@TwoWheelRocco3 жыл бұрын
Happy to help. If they would've made the slot a little wider you would have more clamping pressure.And you would never need to replace that shifter . Let me know what you think. Thank you for watching and your sub Chris. Ride safe and have a great day.

On the front shaft if you loosen the toe shifter and push as hard as you can against the shifter and the back of the shaft and tighten the shifter back down it will help firm it up a little. I just had to order a new oil cooler for my 2015 because of the dumb location they put it at it’s all beat up and so many fins are damaged it’s only working about 50% cooling efficiency.y 40 year old shovelhead also has a factory oil cooler mounted higher on the frame is in perfect condition. Smh Harley engineers a getting worse

Just buy a new shift spline. It takes 10 minutes to replace the shaft.
@TwoWheelRocco Жыл бұрын
Just trying to help. The shaft spline rod is not the problem There made out of steel. The heel to toe arms are made out of Cheap metal and that's why you cut away and you have more clamping power. Harley Davison dealer would replace the shifter levels. The steel shaft will not wear out, it's made out of a harder steel, The toe shifter is weak. They won't to sell you at the dealer. Thank you for watching and all your support Vinny. Have a great day ride safe..
@vinnypandolfo6195 Жыл бұрын
@TwoWheelRocco Thank you for putting out the content. I feel that the whole assembly is a fail point. That steel spline has stripped on both of my baggers. The screws and shift levers are made of cheap pot metal. There shouldn't be such an issue for this long. I'm told HD has supposedly fixed the issue on their 2022 and up touring models. If there's an issue it should be repaired and replaced by HD. I've been stranded twice by two different year, and model touring bikes by the same issue! I've since added the spline and screws to my road kit. Just in case it happens again. The definition of insanity is "To do the same thing, over and over, and expect a different result"! It seems that HD has cornered the market on using that definition!
@TwoWheelRocco Жыл бұрын
@@vinnypandolfo6195 I truly believe it's designed to fail, so you will trade your bike in. This is how HD makes money just like the rocker box oil leak. These are things that will happen more than you care to think about. If you look at your shifting arm, the heel to toe,, you will see it doesn't have the clamping power, so when I cut out a little out off that center now, you can clamp down with more pressure onto the spline and this is the fix. Give it some thought, the spline is Harden steel. You can clean up that spline with a wire brush. what's caught in the thread is pieces of your shifter.. It's designed for failure. But I still love Harley Davidson. Great Rides and people.

Tried to buy a set of keys for my 2010 Dyna, and was told to buy a new bike, those parts are obsolete! Can't wait to ask for parts for my 2001 Road King! I'll NEVER buy a bike from a HD dealership. Better to buy it from a poser who realizes he's not really a rider after he eats the depreciation cost!

Just trying to help. The design was flawed when you open up the shifter lever you got much more clamping power. I'm sorry you missed that it been working fine and I did this three years ago.
