If you are interested in raising and hatching apple snail clutches, getting a good yield is important! In my opinion, incubating is the way to go!

I’ve hatched 250+ snails with this exact method I learned from you, I’ve thrown so many purple nerite cutches away because I couldn’t get them to hatch. This way has had a 100% success rate with three or so cutches in the past two months.

I've seen apple snail love...Oh boy ...in my thank :P ... And I've had the opportunity of actually growing out baby apple snails, and incubated them, similar to your method. I had 100's of them hatch of just one clutch! Later, they grew to about the size of a large marble. They do grow fast! So, I had to donate them to my LFS because I didn't have the room :) The few that I kept are now happy in my tank and still growing.

Trick I picked up from Cory from aquarium co-op, tums. At first I didn't think it was doing anything, but once my snails figured out what it was they would eat about 1/16 to 1/8 of a tum per day for about a week. I have 3 so I'd just put in a 1/4 of one which was enough for a day or two, but I'd wait a day or two then put in a new piece... holy cow. The snails have doubled in size in 1 month, from about 3/4 of an inch to almost 2, and they've just laid eggs (why I looked up this video). You put tums in for the babies they'll have the nicest smoothest shells and they'll be huge in just a few months.

I had a small clutch hatch today, suddenly, within an hour or so. The adults were below the clutch as they hatched. Do the adults eat the babies as they hatch? 😢 I saw a few tiny babies, smaller than I was expecting, all with a white transparent shell and a darker button in the middle of the whorl. Is that usual? My snails aren't that color (gold, or brown, or purple, or magenta) so I am looking forward to seeing what color they are.

Rachel I have 8 clutches and maybe 6 before that. I am using a wet paper towel in a plastic container. I didn't punch holes and I just let the lid sit on the top kinda turned so the air can get in. I only have about 20 snails that have hatched. So many clutches...hundreds of eggs. What am I doing wrong? They sit there and after a couple days leak out yellow fluid and stain the wet paper towel. They looked dry on top so I dribbled water over them maybe 2-3 times in a week

my golden mystery snail just laid a clutch at the top of my aquarium and I'm trying to figure out the best way to hatch and take care of them. So now when you say apple snail, do you actually mean the apple snails we catch in ponds and lakes here on the east coast that are always dark colored (either dark brown or black never saw a different color than that in the wild) and grow to actually be the size of a small apple 🍎 or are you talking about the mystery snails (cause I know alot of people also call them apple snails)? I'm just wondering because I don't want this to be specifically for one type of snail and I kill the whole clutch by doing trying it with my mystery snail eggs.
