The first video of my "Hatching Turkey Eggs" series. This is (Part 1) and we will go over what should I do first and what temperature do I set my incubator. Incubators keep the eggs at a controlled temperature. They also have a trough you fill with water to provide humidity that the young turkeys need to stay healthy. Eggs need to be turned over several times a day to help the turkeys grow. After 28 days, our turkey chicks should be breaking out of the shells! Follow the series as I update you step by step!

Excellent tutorial, I find it is very important to keep a notebook to record all of the things you have done during an incubation, this can be very useful to look back on in the event of either a failure to hatch, or a record percentage hatch, it is a very handy reference the next time you attempt it, stay safe! Shellie, how exciting! Is this your first time hatching turkey eggs? I'll enjoy watching the progress of hatching those eggs. Emily is such a sweet helper! I got a kick out of the comment about not letting Mike name the turkeys ...but, that sounded about right! LOL ~Margie

It's crazy how they say not to open the incubator often and this and that yet when a hen is laying on eggs she goes hours every day without sitting on them while she feeds and her eggs still hatch and she can't control the humidity.

Are turkey eggs fertile already once they are laid?
@farmmom7140
@farmmom7140 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jordan! The eggs are only fertile if you have a Tom turkey as well. You still would want to candle some to make sure your Tom is good to go. Some breeds of turkeys can't reproduce without synthetic insemination. Good luck.

Don't turkey females cover their eggs, do they? Or because they are not wild birds.

Thanks for watching Dan. Domestic turkeys normally have a roosting area with nest boxes and will lay in them. If they we're free range, yes it would be hard to figure out where they're laying their eggs.
