Lol the other kids staying the same age reminds me of the second stage of Rune Factory 2 when you play as your child. The kids from the first stage technically grow 7 years older but they're treated the same as they were before. Got really weird when your 7 year old child character can date them even though they'd be 15 by then, though...

There wasn't actual dating in the 2nd generation though. There was just the option of a play wedding with any opposite gender child.

The magical outcome for same-sex marriage is adorable, I love it so much~! Reminds me of Harvest Moon DS Cute's cutscene where the Harvest God grants the happy lady-couple with a child for working so hard, or the one in Story of Seasons Trio of Towns if you court the fox god/goddess (depending on your gender), who can't have children because of their immortal form, yet is blessed to have a child.

I love the magic tree babies! I’m really excited to play this game after my semester ends! I do wish the game didn’t skip 5 years, but I understand that making the kid age gradually would be a lot of work. For the first year or 2 they could probably get away with just leaving the baby in a crib, but you’d still want some interactions otherwise it would get old really fast. I think if they had cutscenes that you could activate by going up to the crib and interacting with it that would be cool. You could have one for feeding the baby, playing with the baby, and putting the baby to sleep. When the child is 3 they could switch to the bed and then be seen walking around the house and playing with toys and such. Maybe a few cutscene options for going out on a picnic (I saw the suggestion in another comment and really liked it), working on the farm a little (it could be comedic where the kid tries to plant something and they get covered in dirt), giving them a bath or going to play in the water, or reading them to sleep. They could probably keep those same interactions from ages 3-5, but it would be cool if they changed the interactions each year. So maybe in the third year you could go on a picnic, plant something in the farm, and read them to sleep, and on the fourth year you could go to the restaurant, play something like hopscotch or jump rope outside, and maybe keep the farm work one but it goes a little more successfully. Then when they’re five you could have a cutscene where you teach them a combat technique, play tag or hide-and-seek, and maybe cook or bake something together. That way you could really feel like you’re building a relationship with the child and watching them grow up. There could also be a few different outcomes for different cutscene interactions just so it’s not the same every time. Maybe there could also be an option to skip to five years later after the baby is born if you don’t want to have all the extra stuff. Still, I get that family-building/family life isn’t really a focus for the game rn. I’d say it’s more about building relationships with and serving the community in different ways. But this would be my first RF game so I can only comment on the game as it appears to me with my limited knowledge. In general, most players might agree that more options = better, but there’s a LOT of labor required to make ANY game, and I’m probably still going to play RF5 even without all of the idealistic suggestions I made. It looks amazing!!

There's a new farming/life sim coming out called Coral Island. It looks SOOOO good. I was blown away when I found out that they made it so kids ACTUALLY age until teenagers. Even the other children in the village age!

I know I'm late to this video, but you jumped on this immediately and I had to restart to marry someone else and I didn't want the specifics of the 'magic baby' to be spoiled. Just got all the stamps on my new file-marriage and a baby is always the last thing I do, since you can't marry anyone until late in the story anyway-and the two babies floating in the air in front of the tree had me in stitches. I figured it would just be Lucas with his "ワン、ツ、ツリ！" shenanigans, but this'll do. Also, I swear your innocence got me immediately at 16:28. Gay guys are usually IN the closet and not behind it, but we take those. :D

I like that they've kept the regular birth event for opposite sex couples, as some people were not so happy with the way that was handled in SoS: PoOT, but I personally prefer the cutscene that same sex couples get - how cute is that!? The child sprites are also just so adorable.

I understand they had to do this because of same sex marriages. But they should have done something different for the guy/girl marriages.
