This entire video -> YES. And phone calls... the more I ponder my hatred of them through the autistic lens, the more I think I hate them because they’re not subtitled. Same reason I hate ordering food at a drive through or watching movies with people who don’t turn on captions. It just takes so much processing power. And it’s not a script, so you might have to respond quickly to something that you actually need more time to think about first. So many reasons to despise phone calls. Thanks for helping the hell out of me with this video, lol!

The more I learn the more I think that I’m autistic. The phone is one that struggle with. I hate making calls. If I get a call it’s much better. I prefer email or text. Those give me more time to think.

Another very informative video. The info on meltdown is especially helpful to me and my daughter that is autistic. Look forward to her having less meltdowns for her sake and mine (I down have the energy I once did).

I've learned to do (I hope) a passable amount of eye contact, but I hate it. Especially when I don't know the person. Eye contact seems like a form of intimacy to me. I don't want to keep prolonged eye contact with people because it feels invasive. Also sports. It was torture being in a chaotic situation and getting yelled at for not being able to function because of it. I'll never be over that anxiety. I loved what you said about employment. I lived in poverty my entire working life. I'm better on minimum disability than when I worked myself sick. No one I know understands what it's like to live like that. I'm much happier now I finally have enough to pay my bills without needing to spend days off and holidays in bed so that I can do my next shift. I don't care that I'm not high society. I thank God I have what I need and I don't have to trade my mental and physical health and go without other things I need in order to pay my bills anymore.

Same for sports! I love solo or small group activities like cross-country skiing but I've always hated team sports, and I still generally hate doing physical activity with a large group of people, even if I'm just doing my own thing in a corner. I also have had issues following fast-moving object with my eyes, so sports where you need to catch a ball were always the worst.

yeah my parents sometimes try to force me to something. I don´t think they want to be mean. But it doesn´t help me.

Oh my gosh, it's like you were in my head in the last 2 videos. What the heck... how can you know me this well? I'm not entirely certain I've EVER come across content I related to as strongly as this video. My parents are very religious and my dad was a cop most of my life, and an ahole. I left at 15 but only managed to extricate myself from their web last year at 38. They basically traded me for my ex-wife, probably because they always wanted a girl. I keep wanting some replacement parents who'll just love me for being exactly the person I am, but I don't suppose that's very likely to happen at this point. I suppose we don't get to pick them. :( Have never felt so much peace as I have in this last year, just to not be constantly cut down by them, or treated poorly. Taken advantage of. Manipulated. Shamed. Ugh, I had to get rid of all that. Thank goodness for finding a good therapist I could open up to. It's so much baggage to go through your whole life being told you're broken... to suddenly find out you're not broken, you're fine and there's nothing wrong with you. That's a nice feeling. I don't feel it very often but watching these videos really helped me a lot. Thanks.
