Thanks for video. I don't actually track the ball with my left arm. I just raise it up to facilitate a shoulder rotation. I track the ball with my eyes only. Depending on how close to the net I am dictates where I contact the ball and how much power or pronation I apply on the swing.

One thing you might add to your good presentation, guys, is to position yourself to the descending ball so that it would hit you right in the forehead if you didn't swing at it first. I find this simple rule accurately places me in position to hit the ball cleanly.

My problem with the overhead is that I get anxious tracking the ball, and end up hitting it way too soon, which causes a miss-hit off the racket rim, or a wild hit past the baseline. I will re-watch this video several times to drill your excellent points into my head.

+Robert Lafferty it sounds like you may be pulling your head down at contact. If the non dominant hand stays up the head has to stay up. Try to keep the hand up as if you’re going to field a pop fly and this will help. People who "point" with 5 fingers aren't trying to point with all 5 fingers, they are pretending to catch the ball, which is more effective than purely pointing in my opinion

MGMT I actually agree with you my man, butt this vid is how to hit a “Beginner” overhead. Pointing is a call to action that most people can remember in the early stages of the game whereas catching the ball is more difficult, especially if they haven’t played a sending-receiving sport. Thanks ford watching, we appreciate the feedback!
