Part 1 1. Hands down u're a clown 2. Footwork 3. Use ur imagination Breathe through it. Match distance. Punch on ur way out too. Work on slips, pivots, counter punches etc Avoid wraps and gloves- work the bag, don't kill it. Part 2 1. Punch the bag, don't push it. 2. Don't let the bag move u. Find the sweet spot 3. Find the sweet spot for long mid and short range. Move with the bag

Ando Mierzwa 1. Hands up all the time 2. Footwork (Position before Submission) 3. For a 10 minute workout (First 5 minutes no punching but practice on footwork) a. Bag not moving, move around and feel comfortable b. Move bag, practice keeping distance with hand on bag, pivot out of way of moving bag. c. Shuffle around moving bag 4. Imagination: He hurt your brother 5. Don’t just jab and walk away, punch on your way in (like you’re starting the offense , jab going in then set up for a power shot. Punch on your way out and pivot. 6. Stay alive and alert the whole time. 7. Work the bag, not try to kill it. 8. Hands up, chin tucked. 9. Stay in your stance and thinking your way into the bag and out of the way 10. Move the bag, don’t let the bag move you. a. Find sweet spot (right distance, right balance, right timing with weight shift) i. This goes for long range, medium and short range. Always find right balance and distance to not have bag bounce back into you.

Hi Andy, i am currently a 13 year old who is in to kickboxing. And thanks to your video's i have been improving a lot. When I first came to the sportschool (that's what we call it in Holland I don't know the word for it) they thought I was a bit weak and soft. (This was 3 months ago). The master asked me to spar with a guy ( probably the same age as me). The goal was to hit each other 3 times before they could. And I won! That all thanks to your videos! I have been improving and am competing into a tournament soon. I just wanted to thank you for your videos!

After 25 years of going to classes in Muay Thai, Kempo and Tae Kwon Do, I have transitioned to some other sports (running, OCR, lifting) full time. But I still miss martial arts. I recently installed a heavy bag in my home gym and started incorporating heavy bag work into my training sessions as a warm-up and cool down. IT's been great. Thanks for your videos, they have helped me construct a program that makes sense for where I am now. I always felt when you start something go back to the basics. These videos help.

Thank you this was excellent! going back to basic and humbling down what you think you knew is always a lesson learned. From the two videos, I have understood that punching is really the last thing you want to do and worry about; landing the punch correctly shouldn't be underrated. But if a punch you must, then let it be the only one you need for a knockout.

High carb veganism :) No oil, whole food starches, lenses beans, brown rice, veggies, cutting out gluten (as it is sticky in the gut and hinders effective diguestion, also gluten will be accumulated in the body), some fruits, no processed food but nice self cooked food + some days with intermedian fasting (to clear up the body). Does wonders - for health, the body and condition. Within 1 year I lost 20 kg and gained a nice body - without even trying to loose weight (nor did I train much - or itwas quite less to nothing - I trained even less than before, when I gained weight with fat). I actually did not care. It just happened. And the wonderful thing is: If I do not train, I stay slim. If I train, my body gets in shape - I train nearly daily now- (with some muscles - while woman tend to build up less muscles but it still looks good on them :) - but appearance is not as important as personality, though it is nice, to look out for a body )

+Rodrigo Maldonado Father and son boxing together... that's awesome! Everyone is different, but generally, when teaching youth, just make one correction at a time. Don't try to hurry up the learning process. Focus on one thing, like keeping the knees bent or hands up for the whole session. That way, he can get better every time and feel encouraged. Showing him instead of telling him what to do is also great. Make it like a "follow me" drill. You jab, he jabs. You 1-2, he 1-2s. You shuffle and hook, he shuffles and hooks. And record some of that on video so he can watch it back that day, a month or two later when he's even better, or when he visits you in the old folks home! Happy punching!

Hello Andy! I am a 53 yr old man. Just giving up a few bad habits in the new year and trying to take up a few new ones. I came across your videos. I want to say, I think they're great! In response to some of the silly comments I see, I'd rather have someone's overly nice step-dad teaching me, than some sarcastic know it all, egging me on into some crazy situation. In my view, your appearance adds the element of surprise, unlike mine. My kids have always told me that I look intense. 😆 (I guess that's how I've avoided a lot of conflict over the years) I am a big guy, very stiff though. I could always hold my own through minimal training. I've always had decent strength however, I'm getting older now. I'm trying to learn stretches and I want to learn some training techniques. I look forward to watching your content.

as playing baseball growing up and having a decent batting average,and being able to hit the slow pitch softball over 300 ft, playing hs golf and 1 yr college, my secret to scoring better and hitting the goflball farther more consistently was keeping my head focused on the target (the ball) and keeping my head laser still. With the golf swing it made the timing better and i hit some 355-360 yards at times, average 315-330 yards from the tee with this technique to be fair and im 5ft9.5" natty 165 -182 lbs (it varies depending on how much i workout). Notice Nick Diaz, his head is focused and not moving back.

Earlier today I was firing multiple punch/strike combinations into a full length heavy bag while standing on one leg. Six months ago I would have not been able to do that. It might be a bit easier with Systema strikes than some other techniques, but much of it has to do with a relaxed body and supporting leg.

Hi Abby! Like any training, it all depends on you. Listen to your body. If you're feeling any kind of soreness or pain, do something else. The idea is to build up your tolerance, not break it down! So, don't overdo it. I think a little every day is better than a lot every couple of days. Especially in the beginning when you want to build good habits, not just get a sweat. Slow and steady, Abby!

If you don't break your toes or ankle, it was probably pretty good! :) Same idea... move the bag, don't let it move you. Take it slow and steady at first.

Hey great vid! I'm a musician and my hands are everything. Could you recommend the safest method to workout on the heavy bag without causing injury to my hands?
@AndoMierzwa
@AndoMierzwa 6 жыл бұрын
In your case, maybe wearing wraps and gloves is a job necessity. I personally prefer to feel the bag with my real hand, but we may not have the same priorities in life. Safety first!

Hey Sensi could you do a routine for us weekend warriors who dont have a traditional heavy bag, but have a freestanding like the wave master. Thanks.
@AndoMierzwa
@AndoMierzwa 9 жыл бұрын
Joe Green Hey, Joe! Great idea... I'll add that to my list. Quick thought-- the biggest limitations on a standing bag are practicing evasion and counter timing. To make up for that, can you hang up a rope or belt? Even if you're only punching air, that's an easy way to practice your defensive footwork. Otherwise, when I work a standing bag, I'm all about attacking. I start a step or two back then throw combos to get me in and out. Thanks for the suggestion, sir!
@joegreen5714
@joegreen5714 9 жыл бұрын
Hang it how? Gotta lot of space and a few feet of rope. What is next? Got a tennis ball hanging to mimic the sway of the heavy bag, but I still would like to know what you had in mind.
@AndoMierzwa
@AndoMierzwa 9 жыл бұрын
Joe Green Yes, same idea as your tennis ball. I might nail/tape the rope to the ceiling or throw it over a rafter so I have something that moves around. Since I kick, too, I would let it hang down to my knees, but waist high works, too. Better than nothing!
