By far the best hook grip video on youtube. All the other videos have 3-4 minutes of some moron telling you why SHOULD hook grip (yeah, no shit, that's why I'm watching these vids), then like 10 seconds of "showing you how." Then another few minutes talking about how hook grip hurts, but it's awesome.

I have been toying with hook grip for a while because of some lat issues on my underhand side. This has by far been the best video I have seen on hook grip.

I'm using the hook grip for about three month now... and it hurts a lot, sometimes till crying. I'm still having problems with it and doing it wrong... But, I'll get there and honestly this is the best made, more detailled video about hookgrip I've found on the YT. Thank a lot! I want to use this grip in my next meet.

13:06 that's the confirmation that you are hooking properly. Both my thumbs have calluses in that orientation and for sure one year into hook grip I'm in the mid 600s from 485

Wow, took me a little too long to find this video - I'm committed to using hook grip but it is really challenging me even at the light weight I'm pulling now (not over 250 working sets). These video is great!!

Good video! I have been experiencing some rear delt/shoulder discomfort in my left shoulder if that arm is supinated so I have quit doing mixed grip before I get hurt. I started trying hook grip last week and gave it more of a chance this week but felt like I wasn't doing it right (no pain and slipping grip) but this offered some tips I didn't use but I realize I didn't so I will try them out next week. I can't go back to mixed grip so I need to get this figured out.

Yes. Tiny chinese girls use hook grip successfully. So by that measure I would say anybody can hook grip.

Do you guys have any advice on avoiding blacking out during deadlift? I haven´t been doing this excercise for long, but, today I hit my max and it wasn´t even slow, but as soon as I left the bar on the ground, everything went black and I had to put my ass on the ground for a few secs.

is your index finger covering your thumbs IP joint? I feel like my hands are too small to get three fingers over my thumbs distal phalangeal without my index layering over the ip joint.

My index finger is directly on the IP joint, though not covering it. What you describe sounds exactly right. Great question!

Some people are just unlucky and have hands that are to small for the hook grip... Sorry dude. I know this is a late answer but maybe it'll help someone else

I have short fingers but a thick hand and I cannot get anything but my middle finger on my thumb. My index comes off and my ring finger? forget it!

Is it okay to use gloves with this lift? Another one of my problems as a female is I have tiny hands. Literally I have baby sized hands 😒

If you're doing competitive powerlifting then you cannot wear gloves otherwise of course you can. Not sure what kind of response You're Expecting about telling everyone that you have small hands

Maybe wearing gloves during this lift would make the lift more complicated. Maybe it doesn’t 🤷🏾‍♀️. So do you feel better about yourself now after making such idiotic comments? No?
