Good video, If I may add my opinion; basically power can be defined as mass x speed. The way I was taught, increase your mass 2x and your power will increase twice, however increase your speed 2x and your power will be FOUR times as much. Also squats with heavy weight may not be the best exercise for power kicking. In my opinion, developing the trunk of the body with lots of twisting motions would be the focus. Speed and resistance drills for quick twitch muscles, along with slow dynamic movement, such as..., placing kicks in a targeted area in slow motion / with repetitive practice and good technique, over timed periods or rounds. The latter exercise will certainly challenge your endurance and strength around the core. One other thing, stay flexible.

The slow movement does work wonders for technique (especially if you have a mirror), it may look ridiculous moving in slow motion but it helps optimize the mechanics / nervous system. When I train that way I move as slow as possible and really focus on firing the muscles involved in the chain at the right time. Someone can make a kick (or any biomechanical movement) look decent with speed, it's very hard to make it look good moving at a snails pace because there's no momentum to bail you out and sloppy mechanics really show -- you should be able to do it perfectly at a slow methodical pace, then you make it fast.

I’m a competitive tree climber, yes I know. But there’s an event where we are ascending a rope as fast as possible. Typically 50 feet. I would love to share a video with you and talk about specific training for it.
