Had an hour race last week, pre-1.9, easy hour of tyre, post 1.9, made a super safe setup that just seemed to work, but the tyres were at 90 degrees, and that's where they *liked* to be. Fine pace for 20 minutes, in and out of the pits and the tyres fell off a cliff. It still feels not quite right, but it's a step up from pre-1.9,.just maybe needs some refinement. Shocked to hear the old setups still work, obviously you've never run max toe/camber on GT3 cars even in quali, that's not how they work. Great info all round, thought I was going mad

Inhad the same with the porsche. After ten laps I was like racing on ice.

This is perfect timing, having a 60min race tomorrow at Barca in the 992 and tests so far I can’t make it past 40minutes. Very informative, thank you very much!! Really looks like tyre management is big thing on 1.9

I switched to the 992 after 1.9 and I found that I need to actually deliberately make the front degradation worse for anything longer than a 10 minute stint, because the rear deg is so bad that I sort of have to max out front toe and camber to make sure that the car is balanced after 10 minutes. Also needed to push the brake balance towards the front a lot and that sacrificed a lot of lap time.

I don't know specific of ACC physics, but if saving rear tires is your goal, not sure if positive toe is right thing. ANY kind of toe, negative or positive, supposed to increase tire wear, due tire always due toe-presteering being dragged sideways, even in straight line, no matter if toe-out (negative, tires pointing outside) or toe-in (positive, tires pointing inside). It technically may reduce wear, if without slight positive toe one drifts excessively, but if it's balance thing, one may consider also other setup means to change mechanical grip balance change. Thought that worth noting, as got impression, that it seems to you that positive may "save tires"

Hello mate 👏 Great informative video, appreciated 👍 Question: In a 1 hour race in Silverstone where you are obligated to change tyres, if by the end of the first stint (around the 30 min mark) i'm having LIGHT grain only on my front tyres (even if i'm not getting any loss of time issues because of it) would you still recommend that i try to change my pace or setup in order not to have any kind of grain? I'm using the Lamborghini EVO2 Thank you 👍

If its only light graining then it's fine you won't need to change setup.

I don't think it's going to change much in the end. I hear the SRO pro guys haven't really changed anything. Still max negative everything.

Yes unfortunately many epsorters still do the glitched setup with full caster and rest on zero and suspension on supersoft and then just goes grinding leagues 😢 sadly it seams like that factor of acc isn't fixed! But at least it's better then 1.8 for common players

It's on the full race that the change will really occur I think. Tire degradation will be faster.

Thats the problem with go/cda... setups you just driving on the tires and after 7 laps boom youre half a second slower and at the end of the stint even slower xD

All this makes sense until eSport and PRO guys come out in the game having race and Q set up full negative even in 1.9.5. One thing that can help driving is to increase (at least that works in lambo), caster at least to 13.

Do you think in 1.9 that in a 1 hour race with pitstop required, you can get away with not changing tires if you save correclty?
@KrypticTMG
@KrypticTMG Жыл бұрын
You could but much would depend on the track and temps i think.

What do I do against undercooling tyres and too less psi
@Djm939
@Djm939 Жыл бұрын
First try raising psi, then if your tires really are just too cold you can close the brake ducts, but you should really try raising psi first

Why are you running negative toe on the rears. I always try and run close to zero as possible but never negative on the rears.

I always tought I was just bad, but I'm just killing my tires with a dumb setup.

Negative toe on the rears? Seems a bit dodgy. Unless I'm misunderstanding, negative implies toe out, correct? Whereas positive is toe in? I've always understood you never run toe out on the rears, and never toe in on the fronts, unless you're running a front wheel drive car, and only then if the circumstances warrant it. But i could be misunderstanding the positive and negative in this sim. I understand negative to be toe out and positive to be toe in. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first thing i was wrong about on the sim. They made it so unnecessarily mysterious.

you are right with everything you're saying. But unfortunately toe out on the rears (negative toe if you will so) is still viable in many scenarios in acc. it gives you alot of free agility (rotation) without having too much stability loss.

@Felixxxxxxxify that is so wild. I guess update 1.9 fixes that, according to their pdf release. I'm still waiting for it to hit consoles. But it would explain all the infuriating understeer I can hardly get away from. To tune it out, I'm having to set up the car to be incredibly unstable in the rear, so I can sort of power oversteer through corners. Still, it costs me so much time going into corners because I have a hard time judging when exactly to switch from primarily braking to primarily accelerating. I end up doing a combination of trailbraking and blipping the throttle, which is noncommittal and eats time. Even with 22mm rake (AMG), a low stiff front end, and no more than middle rear wing, I'm just as likely to understeer into a corner rather than to smoothly rotate into it. It always feels like I've shed too much momentum going in. It is very difficult to be consistent. Add to that the fact that with the lower rear downforce, stability through high-speed corners is very tricky, too. The whole thing is unpredictable enough that when the front end does bite and pull me into a corner, I'm usually surprised. Often times when I make my line, I leave the corner thinking I've done that way too slowly. It's been a tricky ride so far. It should feel great when i get the line and the speed right, but instead, it feels confusing because I can't figure out why it worked that time but not the other times. And I'm usually pretty analytical and can figure these things out on other racing titles. I hope the new update brings the sim back in line with my thinking, regarding the rear, and then the things that work irl or in other sims begin to work in this one too. At least then i can afford to put a little downforce on the rear and maybe not have to have my front firmly planted into the ground with maximum downforce and bottomed out ride height and dampers. I run with road feel at 100% (after all, they did laser-scan these tracks and it feels wrong to not take full advantage of it) and having that stiff of a suspension in the front makes for some hectic handling on bumpy straights (the back straight at Mt. Panorama for example) when I should be able to relax a little.

How does positive toe save more tire than negative toe ? Why don’t just go neutral ?
@KrypticTMG
@KrypticTMG Жыл бұрын
you can go neutral but positive toe is more stable so your less likely to slide the rear of the car therefore saving your rear tires.
