This is really helpful. My feet are awful - flat, long and narrow they look like canoes. I will never have beautiful ballet feet, but I will definitely try your exercises to improve my ugly feet as much as possible.

I’m at the age where I could begin pointe, but I haven’t danced for to years, i have to rework my splits and get them down from a very high off the ground, I also have to get my feet arched better if I want to go on pointe sooner. This is helpful!

Thank you so much, these were really helpful. I'm an aspiring ballerina and I've heard of a few of these before but the way you explain and describe them will definitely help get more out of them. And your British too!. I'm British and I struggle to find any decent British ballet KZbinrs, so this is great! 😂💕

Iam not a ballet dancer or a dancer, tried this , and the first one was hard on the down as my leg was shaking , as I broke my foot yrs ago. It even makes my hip feel better after this too.

I also have problem jumping on one foot the feet never seem to point.

I have a glissade and assemble video on my Natalie Danza channel, maybe that could help. I also have a sautés video which will help with the jumps, but I know that jumping on one foot is so much harder, I struggle with it too! :)

For any relevés in these exercises, from classic relevés to pliés 2nd into relevés, do you have to focus the weight under big toe and second toe? Whenever I'm pushing my arch, my foot wants to roll towards the pinky... Thanks!
@NatalieDanzaBallet4 жыл бұрын
Yes, in general the weight should be a little more towards the big toe than the little toe ☺️

But here's the thing, whenever i push my arch out, i sickle. I just lack that muscle on the side of my leg that can help me not sickle and have pretty ankles, bc i find that whenever i point my foot, it sickles
@NatalieDanzaBallet4 жыл бұрын
I understand, it’s about finding the compromise at first and not sacrificing the angle of the foot to fully point. As you start to strengthen that muscle (you will have it but it’s normal you don’t use it much for anything other than ballet) you will be able to get back to a full point while maintaining the correct angle of the foot. I have a whole 4 week course on this because it’s not something you think about once and it’s done. It takes time and practice ☺️

Thank you for this super important video. I recently returned to ballet and my legs are really stiff. it's clicking everytime I do this exercise, is that normal?

What do you think of your toes as you are doing this? Please.
@NatalieDanzaBallet4 жыл бұрын
The toes are really the last thing to think about, first think of the hip and turning out, then think of straightening the knee, then think about pointing your foot starting from the ankle, then the arch of your foot and finally the toes elongate and point too. Hope this helps 🤗
@khsmaria3923 жыл бұрын
@@NatalieDanzaBallet Exactly. Yes, this gives me a real way of thinking of my toes as elongated pointing created by the ankle, heel forward pushing. I always like to analyze every movement. I learn from your analysis. Thank you.

I have genetically good arches, but my metatarsals dip and then splay out upwards, so when I engage my muscles to point, my arches look ok but the rest is flat and the ‘banana’ shape stops! If you manually move my foot to a banana shape it will do it without any stretching feeling, so am guessing the flexibility is there. Is this fixable with strength based exercises or am I forever doomed in flats?!!! (En pointe this is isn’t an issue).
@NatalieDanzaBallet5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I don't really know how to help you with this. Have you asked your teacher? Or another teacher at your school? I think it's easier to help if they can actually see your feet! :)
