Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I had a bilateral hip replacement at 22 back in 2003. I wish these videos had been around then as I had to to figure out how to get my cheerleading flexibility back on my own. I did ok & was able to hold my own for a week Kansas City Chiefs Chiefs tryouts. Joining the team wasn't feasible due to health reasons; but trying out 6mos after having both hips replaced was a fun goal. At 43, I'm recovering from being homebound for 5 years. I just want ny life back & to see how flexible I can get, so thanks for these. The fitness model is very cool & inspirational.

@potrelviewer953623 күн бұрын
I physically can't do the hip rotation exercises, not because of poor mobility, but because of a near fatal event. 15 years ago, I was in judo class, and at the end of one session, we did some stretches (in kimono). One of the positions was sitting cross-legged. I couldn't get my knees below my stomach, so my sensei "helped" me by lowering the legs under my lungs. Then it happened: internal tearing of both legs, blood gushing everywhere, excruciating instant pain. One of the parents (who was waiting for his children after class) was a paramedic and quickly drove me to the nearest hospital (about a mile and a half away from the dojo). My diagnostic was very grim: not only the skin and blood vessels were fully teared, but also my adductors and the main nerves in the upper legs; it was THIS bad. I spent an entire year in order for my legs to fully heal, then another 6 months of a total physical rehab just to be able to walk and sit with assistance. My doctors also told me that I should never, for the rest of my life: run or jog, jump, spread my legs beyond my shoulders' width, and also stay in any prone position (on all fours or eights). Otherwise, I would have to undergo a double total hip replacement. Nowadays, I can walk 8 to 10 miles daily, somewhat sit with no aid (but still do if I don't know the height of where I would sit). I also go to the gym twice a week, for one hour each time. But, even with all these improvements, I'm still very worried about my hip mobility. Just going in or out of a car pushes my already weak hip muscles to their very low limits. So yeah, I can't do the exercises shown in this video, honestly. Even the very first one, the 90/90 stretch: totally undoable for me.

Doctors are not the best experts on soft tissue issues. See a physical therapist. They are so skilled and can get you so much back. TENS and hydrotherapy are also great.

Very detailed presentation thank you. One question. As a runner with IT band issues I’ve been focusing on butterfly stretch, split squats. Side range lateral squats (?). Also doing step downs paired with standing 90 glute stretches. This is all from the belief that more flexible hips will lessen the IT band tightness I feel during long runs. My warm up includes hip CARs. I have not been doing the internal and external rotation exercises.

This is a really nice video. I do have a question. I have some kind of tilt or some kind of what appears to be a twist in my hips. It's been there for over 40 year and doctor told my mum it was one leg longer than the other, which I now know not to be true. I have one over arched foot and one flat, and my question is, since most of these faults are hip/muscle related, can I just slowly work through all these exercises and eventually it will all right itself, or do I need to do something for the tilt first?

90-90 transition was the one that made me feel like my whole hip and tissues above and below were disintegrating and ripping apart, especially when trying to keep the torso up. But it also felt like something happened for the first time. I think I had already tried every other exercise on this list before. Well, pigeon pose was downright impossible so that probably doesn't count. I'm impressed how she has pretty much identical rotation range both sides, instead of like one side being very good at external and barely capable of internal etc. And Jesus Christ she has her thighs almost parallel to ground in the sitting position with bottoms of the feet against each other. Also how does she sit upright in the 90-90 instead of supporting with outside arm not to be completely rounded from torso? And then turning to the internal rotation bias without falling over.

How come I only feel the butterfly stretch in the joint itself and not in the muscles while when I try to do a middle split I feel it very well in the adductors?
@shanefoster530526 күн бұрын
Sounds like inflammation to me. I am working through a lot of this with arthritis. It’s a challenge for sure. Don’t press into the pain. Press til just before it hurts. Once the muscles loosen, you can go further without pain.
@somebodyoncetoldme170426 күн бұрын
@@shanefoster5305 Gave up on it and just working on front splits, middle splits, and 90-90 position variations. I think I'm hitting everything. When I improve those I'll revisit the butterfly and see what's up.

I thought one should warm up then strengthen and finally stretch. Here shows stretching first. You are lengthening the muscle or in a way in a vulnerable position that is not ready for strengthening. Don’t you have to swap these two ?
