Listen to King Louie's song in the original Jungle Book. The part where he and Baloo start making sounds with their voices, "boppa-boppa-bead-a-loo." Or "walla-wop. Walla-woo." Or "gettin' arr-arr." They're doing a type of singing called scat, there. It originated from jazz. You could also look up scat on KZbin. Hope that helps.

I’ve tried scatting a whole song and I’ve noticed the lyrics come out quite processed and not very organic. I used to do that but now I write a bar freely (thoughts in their most rawest form) and then scat the second bar, and work my way down. Hope that makes sense. I wonder if anyone else writes like this 🤔

i would do something almost similar while removing scatting from the equation but since im new i'll try your writing process!

I used to use scatting when i first started but felt dumb doing it so i stop doing it altogether until recently i heard it's a common way to write and freestyle so i have picked it back up and working on it Is there any scatting word's that seem to work better then other's?
@HowToFreestyleRap2 жыл бұрын
Free scatting flows course below! But any form of mumbles that instinctively come out while scatting to a beat work.

Look so I can rap perfectly on beat and can use scat to right bars and lyrics. My problem is that my rhythm isn't very good. How do I improve my rhythm?

Please stop spreading false information. Scatting isn't random sounds. They are sounds used as a note to make a sound so you could insert words with those exact sound in place. Bro please do research before sending people who what help off with bad info. I hope to see your videos improve. (Ps. This isn't hate just constructive criticism)

Here’s the Wikipedia definition: “In vocal jazz, scat singing is vocal improvisation with wordless vocables, nonsense syllables or without words at all. In scat singing, the singer improvises melodies and rhythms using the voice as an instrument rather than a speaking medium” Improvised means random instinctual flows using random instinctual nonsense sounds, and you can also improvise random melodies over the music. Whatever feels right. There’s no one right way to do it. You can scat any note over a melody to find your flow and cadence. Once you find a flow and melody you like, then you can add lyrics to that flow. The cool thing is everyone will come up with a different flow over a beat and that’s totally cool. That’s what makes each of our connections to music unique. No false information here, just simplified information because too many people over complicate the music creation process.

@@HowToFreestyleRap "In scat singing, the singer improvises melodies and rhythms using the voice as an instrument rather than a speaking medium" is my point. If people are turning to you for info on how to do something then give them value. I'm the type of person who if im learning i like to be thorough and i just felt this was a half hearted video that didn't give a full effort to explain. If people are hunting "how to" they don't want over simplified they want thorough, but like i said i hope to see your videos improve cause i do like your inviting personality. Cheers
