TEDx Talks

4 жыл бұрын

Jonathan Ljungqvist, who became a rising professional adventurer at a young age, came to the realization early in life that a successful career was only a piece to life's puzzle. In his first TEDx Lund he talked about 3 life lessons from traveling the world, but this time he defies the audience's expectations. He instead tells his story of how pursuing a successful career led him to embark on life's biggest project up to date, the one within his own relationship. Perhaps this popular story theme has been told before, but not like this! Professional adventurer who has: Biked from Sweden to Tanzania; Kayaked from Sweden to the black sea; Roller-skied across Australia. Adventurer has been in his blood for many years now but he makes his living as operative manager at davidjpphillips.com and they work with coaching in external and internal communication. When he's not doing adventure or public speaking he loves to be at home at Lakehouse and just walk the dog, read a really good book or meditate! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

This is a wonderful topic and speech! Jonathan is the love of my life but like we can all agree on, love is complicated. Starting our oxytocin project was the best journey we have embarked upon together and I know we are happier for it! I am so grateful, not only for Jonathan, but because oxytocin is something we humans share and need. Cheers!

Jonathan is absolutely correct - I did not know it was called oxytocin... we just call it 'being in love' - after 33 years together (30 of them married) twice we've been on the brink of calling it quits but we worked on it and today we are like a couple of adolescents (we are both rapidly approaching 70) - we hug/ we cuddle / we kiss / we love each other and as Jonathan says - LOOK at each other, go for walks together. One thing Jonathan missed - LAUGH together - share jokes to start with but after a while it becomes easier to find amusement in every day things. Take care of each other - offer to help in a task and be confident to ask for help in a task. Plan little projects together - like clearing out the wardrobe - (a boring task but together it is done faster and it's more fun). However, I have a little advice for Jonathan and Amanda - I know it's fashionable but try and keep the mega expressions of your love more private - the turning up at work with flowers, in my mind, is not so cool - it smacks of possession and wanting to show others how good a partner you are - instead surprise her with the flowers at home. I won't even comment on the public proposal - mine was on top of a promontory - overlooking the Pacific Ocean - it was a blissful moment which still makes my skin tingle. It was our moment.

True love is love you give and you get, without asking, demanding or craving for. Respect, loyalty, honesty, touch, smell, laugh, look, protection, all good feelings making one- love for life. Communication is the key. When you communicate you have no problems. Congratulations to both of you. All the best.

This was amazing related to it so much. Especially the part of the 10 straws (Neuro receptors) in a the water (hormones) inside the glass (your brain) if you are busy using 8 of those straws and maxing them out then it’s a safe assumption that those two other ones may never be used, could be clogged or atrophy. This is what happen to Jonathon and he didn’t even know it until he got the call from his Longterm girlfriend saying I don’t know how to comfort or love me. What was not talked about was lessening his life hobbies of chasing mountains, fame and adventure. And by doing that he put some attention/focus on his oxytocin Neuro receptor (straw) and by hugging, eye contact and talking fromThe heart he buffed up that straw until it was as thick as a milk shake straw. I too lost this straw bc I had so many other hobbies and passions that my oxytocin Neuro receptor was completely atrophied and took stopping cold turkey many of my “positive” selfish passions that made me feel good but dried up All the hormones for neuroreceptors and left my cup dry.
