great tips! :) I've been on redbubble for a bit but I've only just started to put real effort into uploading my work. Knowing what I know about copyright and trademarks on POD and shop sites in general, you can very likely post your wizard design without issues if it doesn't look like the movie character, but you are not allowed to use Gandalf as a tag describing it. :)

This video really helped me!! Thank you! And I really like what you said about uploading works of what I personally like cause that's what I do too. I also think it is more positive to do that rather than pressuring one's self to post designs like what you see which one is popular as of the moment.

I have started my redbubble shop 1 week ago. I have uploaded 204 designs till now,
Cool content... but maybe you could show what you’re talking about on a computer or iPad or phone, more show than tell perhaps?
@adamkenneyart4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Zita, that's a great thought! I've been considering moving into that direction and having content that combines the show and the tell. I do have a video I just did that goes over PNG files, editing images for redbubble, and the upload and editing process on the site itself. You can check that out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJa8pIujq96njpo

Great content! Do you think it's better to focus on a niche or upload a mix of everything?
@adamkenneyart4 жыл бұрын
I think it's worth exploring a mix of everything, especially at first. I don't think there's any issue with having a wide variety of designs. I think it varies by artist. If you have the ability to do a wide variety of styles and subjects, why not go for it? If you don't have that ability, you'll more likely burn out in your attempt to add content. Another thing to consider is doing marketing through Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. If your work on those platforms doesn't have any cohesion, you might find it tougher to retain an audience. But that shouldn't prevent you from trying and following your gut. I think problems will mostly arise only when you're doing stuff that you can't stand behind with your own tastes and heart. I hope that helps!

Hi Adam, thanks for uploading this video. I was wondering, you have been on RB for 4 years, but you have only made 43 designs. How can you make that profitable? (No critisism, just curious 😉)
@adamkenneyart4 жыл бұрын
Great question and hello to you, too. No offense taken. First off, my main art outlet is fine art. I'm a painter. However, I've dabbled in redbubble and found things that, despite my limited designs, have generated more sales year after year. So, by no means is redbubble "profitable" for me, in the sense that I can make my living off of it (and hopefully that's not what I've expressed in this video). There are other people on KZbin with that sort of experience and their own advice. However, I do make passive income with it and I've seen enough people on the internet say frustratedly that they can't even make a sale after a year or more on the platform, so I thought I'd share some of the things that I think have worked for me. Thanks for your interest and genuine question.
@NeoOnyx4 жыл бұрын
@@adamkenneyart Thanks for explaining. I understand. I, myself, am a traditional medium artist and only since a year I've been working mostly digitally (Procreate/Photoshop). I have about 60 designs up on RB (been on there since a month or 2) and made 5 sales. Still trying to find my footing with the whole POD thing, but we'll get there. Money or profit is not my main goal (although money is nice to have), but I just love seeing my art on all sorts of products and working with Procreate is super fun (nothing to clean up after I'm done ;-)

Hi thanks for the video, what kind of money are you making?
@adamkenneyart4 жыл бұрын
Answered this for somebody else and don't mind the question. First, redbubble is absolutely a side thing for me. I do it for fun. My main art focus is painting. That said, I've been seeing a lot of people in forums having trouble making any sales at all, so I thought I'd make this video. I don't make a ton, but I do make consistent and growing sales, so I thought I'd help. Thanks for watching.

How do you deal with taxes and stuff like that since red bubble doesn’t do it for you?
@adamkenneyart4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. Redbubble suggests that artists look into their local tax laws and regulations. When I did, all of my research pointed to reporting redbubble income as "royalties". So that's how I reported it. I'm not a tax expert, though, so if you're very curious, hopefully somebody in the comments here sees your question and has some insight. Or you might ask a tax professional in your area. I hope that helps!
