This is about 1000% better than the one that says “if you’re out of your teens you can’t do it, be happy with what you have” and yes that video is out there,

Those guys kill me with that "if youre out of your teens..." I just picked up the game two months ago @ 42 years old and the work i am putting in is making a difference and i see the improvements, its a matter of proper guidance and working at it.

What a joke that statement is. I'm 32 and after getting back into bowling after several years, I've put into practice this release method, and my hook ability has gone way up, compared to the basic twisting/tricking it method I used in the past. I believe you can retrain yourself any time at any age; yes it's easier if you learned this way when you were young, but you can always learn new things. Saying you can't is just silly.

When people say rotate the ball ..I think people interpret rotating the wrist but in reality or actually thumb coming out and flipping the ball with your fingers Yo-yo affect which creates rotation.Great videos.

nice way to explain it in simple terms. it's definitely not easy ,it also helps to press your thumbnail against the side of the hole so you don't grab the ball. thumb has no choice but to come out first.

I’m just starting to incorporate the elbow bend into my release, I need to get more accurate and comfortable with it but adding the elbow bend creates so much more power!!

Why did you fetch in the bowling have helped me out in my Boulder game today

The “aha” moment happened for me today. What helped me is the yo-yo effect, you have the let the ball fall off your hand like a yo-yo. Almost feels like you’re dropping the ball at first. Essentially zero grip pressure is required, grip pressure actually causes discomfort and no revs.

Ive been bowling for a long time. Hold 218ave. My one big issue is when lanes break down and i need to increase speed. Now i dont have problem throwing ball faster, but everytime i do this i lose my revs. I can never find a happy medium. Any tips?

Its in your legs not your arm or hand. it shouldn't affect your rev rate.

Hello sir. Do you mind letting me know your thumb pitches?
@andrewmarcotte8741

Him telling you his thumb pitches won't specifically help you. It's smarter to let a pro shop owner let you know which thumb pitches would be beneficial to you.

Can almost guarantee forward pitches... reverse keeps you in the ball longer

Then why use the thumb hole at all? If the thumb is removed, the pressure on throw falls onto the middle finger. If you do it that way, better be ready for some spin

This is what's called two handed bowling. If you're a two handed bowler you've probably been doing it your whole life or have had years of experience but for one handed bowlers it's different. Otherwise there is people like Tom Dougherty who are one handed but don't use the thumb, but same concept without the guiding hand. Were not gonna give up what we've practiced for years on end to something completely different in style. We learn to create power a different way as a one hander. Perfect example as a strong power player on the PBA is EJ Tackett, guy can really rip the ball without even trying. The only problem with these "creating more rev rate" videos is that they don't really explain that these power players are doing the things they do unconsciously. When they're doing their initial swing it feels straight to them but the outside view is completely different. It's very hard to incorporate a bent elbow and cupped wrist if it isn't already unconscious because then you're using muscle instead of just letting the ball do the work through the swing. If I were any of you watching this video learn to curve a bowling ball but after that let your swing develop naturally. It's way more helpful as a bowler to let your game be as natural to you as possible rather than messing it up because you want more revs as a player. Norm Duke is a perfect example he puts out just a little more than half the rev rate that most of the huge power players do on the tour and is still winning majors TODAY.
