The graphics on the included instructions are very difficult to decipher. Just one question. The toner shows cleaning the corona wire, which I did, but I didn't notice any mention of this in your video. I'm wondering if it was really necessary or appropriate to do so.

Hi Anne, glad that we could help! We overlooked it in this video but we do recommend cleaning the corona wire, this helps clear any debris or build up on the corona wire. To clean, slide the tab back and forth several times along the drum and be sure you return the tab back to the home / original position before installing the drum back in the printer.

THANKS SO MUCH for your very clear video. However, I wonder if you or someone here could tell me why my drum and toner assembly won't go all the way into the printer and of course the front door won't close. I tried a brand new toner and brand new drum and still the drum assembly doesn't go all the way inside and click. Brother even sent me a new shell (the machine without the toner and drum), and it happened the same thing. Could a kind soul maybe help me to know why this happens please? I've been installing this same assembly for years without any problem, as this is my 2nd Brother machine. Could a kind soul maybe help me to know why this happens and how to fix please? :)

At 2:35 approx, there is a green button that is near the back of the thing you are holding. What is that for? It slides left to right. Thanks

The green tab on the drum is the corona wire. This projects an electrostatic charge onto the drum to attract toner onto the page. If you are having print quality problems, you can slide the tab back and forth a few times to try and resolve the issue.

You did a good job, however you forgot to tell us to clean the drum unit using the Corona wire each time the toner is replaced. This is stated clearly on the silver wrapping that the new toner comes in and also in the instructions found inside the box. Thanks.

I made the mistake of buying a non-OEM toner cartridge for my Brother printer. I did exactly what was in the video but it kept showing "no toner cartridge installed". The seller was saying something about "the printer needs to be reset when installing the cartridge" and proceeded to give me a long convoluted process (that didn't work) of how to get it to read the cartridge.

Hello Ray! To reset, you can usually bypass ink status error messages by holding down the “OK” or “Resume” button for 5 seconds on your machine. If that does not work, try a quick hard reset. Remove the problem cartridge, then turn off and unplug the machine for 1-2 minutes. Try reinstalling the cartridge after the machine reboots. We hope this helps.

Hi, you might try cleaning the gold contact chip on the back of the cartridge with a lint-free cloth. Sometimes dust or fingerprint residue can get on that chip and cause a faulty reading in your printer. If that doesn't work you can also try resetting the toner cartridge. The printer was a bit complicated to hook up kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.
