How to Install a Command Hook - The OFFICIAL Method

Here's the Official 3M Method on How to Install a Command Hook. If your 3M Command Hook has ever fell off the wall, there's a good chance you might have missed one of these steps. Have a look at this video before you install your next Command Hook!

0:48 Step 1 - Clean surface with rubbing alcohol
1:30 Step 2 - Peel Command liner from adhesive strip and stick onto Command Hook and press firnly
2:11 Step 3 - Peel Command wall side liner and press hook firmly to wall for 10 seconds
2:31 Step 4 - Slide hook off from mounting base
2:44 Step 5 - Press hook backing for 30 seconds
2:53 Step 6 - Slide hook back onto mounting base and wait 1 hour before use

. Being visually impaired, many times I find the instructions on packaging very difficult to read due to the tiny type and font size. However, thanks to you and other KZbin content providers, I can successfully navigate without tripping, breaking, dropping, bumping, burning, or damaging the world around me. Mostly... ha ha In the new apartment, I just finished hanging the first of what will be many pictures and wall art. Adversity is the opportunity to learn new opportunities to overcome any challenge, not to mention saves from having to burdon a friend or neighbor, and I will have more than bare walls to enjoy living in this new place. I have snapped the hook part . The backing is still in place .I bought the hook and backing piece . Now what do I do ? The current backing piece is securely attached.

I keep putting it on I think crooked but then it sits well and I'm just so annoyed because the last one I had it was holding up a hook I have in my shower and I barely had anything on it and it full on just snapped. It broke and then fell and I almost cut my foot on my razor blade which was fun

Oh no! Glad you didn’t get hurt. Just make sure that whenever you install the command hook that the surface needs to be clean. Also, don’t load the hook right away as you want some time for the command adhesive to set. Better luck next time!

Hello having a tv wall Mounted instead of using nails and adhesive in a rental on a drywall painted can I use these command strips on the cable covers ? To place on a wall under the tv and lastly remove Witt command strips ? Ty great Vids

Thanks! While I think the Command strip may work to hold up a TV, I don't think I'd recommend it. The heat from the back of the TV may compromise the Command Adhesive and also, I'd hate to see a TV fall off the wall if for some reason the adhesive failed. Better off using more of a permanent solution!
