Did replacing fuel pump completely resolve the stalling and or acceleration/idle issues?
@RogueWrenching2 жыл бұрын
Yes it did, kinda of. I put in the cheapest option from rock auto, and I had a no start about 4 months later when the cheep pump had a hose pop off because there wasn't a clamp, easy 5 minute fix. Then 2 weeks later that hose ruptured and the vehicle wouldn't start at all. I replaced it with an o.e. Motorcraft unit and had bo more issues. So short answer is yes the fuel pump sending unit assembly did fix the problem, it just took a few tries to get a quality part.

Is it the same for an 07 mariner?
@RogueWrenching2 жыл бұрын
07 is the earlier generation, I'm not 100% if it's the same, you can pop that rear seat and check for a carpet flap and you'll know in about 2 minutes.

Can you use your old o-ring if it's not damaged
@RogueWrenching3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but if it leaks it will set EVAP codes. But since it's an easy thing to get to I'm not opposed to reusing the oring. Also make sure you lubricate the oring before install, use clean engine oil or similar.

Is it the same with a 2007 mountaineer primere?
@RogueWrenching4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, the mountaineer is requires the fuel tank be removed to access the fuel pump. It's not as difficult as it sounds those are pretty easy to do but they do not have the access plate on top under the seat.
@larelloneal89904 жыл бұрын
Is there any alternative other than dropping the tank may be cutting a hole in the floor?
@RogueWrenching4 жыл бұрын
@@larelloneal8990 No, there isn't any way around it, once the tank is out you may be able to cut the floor for the next time (I wouldn't recommend) but even if you're working with just jack stands and hand tools a novice should be able to remove a explorer fuel tank in about 2 hours. It may be a bit time consuming your first time but they aren't all that bad. Fuel line up front, filler at the back, vent hose at the back, an evap line towards the front and an electrical connector about Midway back in the middle of the tank and out it slides.

Is this process done the same exact way with the 06 Mariner V6?
@RogueWrenching3 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, earlier years will be very close, but may not have the access hatch under the seat. pull your rear seat up and see if there's a removable access plate under the carpet, if so then yes this should work on your vehicle.

How to change Fuel filter 2010 Mercury Mariner premier
@RogueWrenching2 жыл бұрын
It's located just forward of the fuel tank under the driver's side rear door, it's the large cylinder shaped thing with 2 lines. There are quick connect fittings you will need a tool for, those tools can be purchased off Amazon on or at your local auto parts store. If you need anything else feel free to ask.

@RogueWrenching Жыл бұрын
@Lisa-vi3dx I'm not 100% sure, best thing is to call the dealer and give them the Vin. Also if you pop the cover off the sticker may still he visible on the old pump that will tell you on-board vapor recovery or not.

That method to hit off the o ring ain’t working , I’ve banging this for two hours already
@RogueWrenching2 жыл бұрын
That's super frustrating, I'm sorry your having issues, I've yet to coneacross one that couldn't be coaxed off with a hammer and screw driver, that being said here's a few things to remember to maximize chances of success: Use a sledge or other metal hammer mallets and dead blows won't shock the ring as hard. Use a hard handled screw driver so the handle doesn't absorb the shock from the hammer strike. Get as low an angle as you can so you're hitting the ring to turn counter clockwise not down. Try in multiple points around the ring to help break it loose. Hopefully this helps, if you need anything else let me know.
